With Derek Carr coming off a broken leg, many USA sportsbook players had mixed feelings about this year’s Oakland Raiders. Nonetheless, the Raiders have gotten the 2017 online NFL betting season off to a great start. And the way they have been performing has left some of the top sportsbook players picking them as favorites in the AFC West – even over the Kansas City Chiefs.
If one need any indication as to how things are currently faring in Oakland all one needs to do is take a look at the headlines that came out of this past weekend’s contest. Against the New York Jets, the Raiders put on a clinic and cruised to a decisive 45-20 home win. Things were going so well that a relaxed Marshawn Lynch even put on a brief dance on the sideline that quickly electrified the home crowd. The Jets weren’t too happy about it but at the end of the day New York couldn’t do anything to stop it. Will the Washington Redskins be able to stop them this Sunday?

Oakland Raiders vs. Washington Redskins – Sunday, September 24th
Venue: FedEx Field
Start Time: 8:30 pm ET
TV Broadcast: NBC
Online Streaming Options: NBC Live
Both teams will be looking to further their standing in the divisional race this weekend. The Oakland Raiders are currently in a 3-way tie with the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos for the top spot in the division. On the other hand, the 1-1 Washington Redskins cannot afford to lose any more ground in the NFC East. Luckily for them and despite most USA sportsbook’s preseason expectations, no team from the East has found much success this season. So, who will accomplish their goals this Sunday? Let’s find out what the online NFL betting odds have to say about it.
Best Online Sportsbook Betting Odds:
Oakland Raiders -3 (-110) 54 (-110)
Washington Redskins +3 (-110) 54 (-110)
As expected, the Raiders have one of the best offenses in the league. Right now Oakland is 1st in scoring, and that’s all thanks to their lineup consisting of Derek Carr, Marshawn Lynch and Michael Crabtree. The biggest obstacle Oakland faced last season was their defense, which habitually placed them in a losing position. Oftentimes it was up to Carr to pull them out of these deep waters but we haven’t really seen that this season. Granted it’s only Week 2 and the Raiders haven’t faced the most threatening of opponents. This Sunday’s game against Kirk Cousins and company should help clarify where their defense stands.
The Redskins opened the season on a loss against their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. The following week, Washington managed to stay competitive in the division by winning a close 27-20 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Unfortunately we haven’t seen enough consistency out of the Redskins to know what to expect this Sunday. But it’s probably still not a wise idea to pick them over the Raiders.
Best Sportsbook Bets to Make: The Raiders on the spread and the money line (once it’s out). Should probably also take the over line, since both teams have capable offenses and lacking defenses.
