Legal gambling sites in USA favor the Purdue Boilermakers over the Northwestern Wildcats by 3.5 points. However, there are many a reason to be optimistic about Northwestern football. Actually, there are just three reasons. But they are good reasons. First, starting QB Clayton Thorson has seemingly and speedily recovered from a torn ACL. Second, NU’s state-of-the-art Ryan Fieldhouse and Walter Athletics Center. And third, the defense is returning five of seven starters.

On the other hand, the Boilermakers hope to pick up where they left off last season. Following 2016’s disastrous 3-9 season, Purdue hired Jeff Brohm as head coach. Brohm turned the program around and led them to a 7-6 season. The Boilermakers finished the season with a three-game winning streak. “Now that they see what we can do in Year 1 with this coach, they’re going to expect a lot more than 7-6. I think we’re excited for the challenge and ready to take it to the next level,” linebacker Markus Bailey said. Purdue is expected to improve further. Like mobile betting improved gambling.

If NU’s new facilities is one reason for optimism, then the Wildcats have 270 million reasons to play like a Power Five school. Because generally only Power Five conference programs can afford to have one of the top facilities in the country. But perhaps they have earned it. In fact, NU holds the longest active winning streak in the FBS with eight straight wins. “I think for our team, it’s really brought us together,” Thorson said. “Guys want to be here and get extra work in because they really enjoy this place.” And speaking of Thorson, he’s not only a reason for optimism, but must be optimistic himself. “You obviously don’t want to rush anything,” he said about regaining the starting QB position.

That opens the possibility that backups TJ Green, Aidan Smith and Andrew Marty might start against Purdue. Well, just one of them, obviously. Green is ironically the least green of the bunch. But not by much. He’s the only one to have completed a pass. In an actual game. NU’s virtual reality room doesn’t count.

The QB picture at Purdue is bit less murky. Either David Blough or Elijah Sindelar will start under center. But regardless of whoever does start, that doesn’t mean the other won’t play. Coach Brohm was partial towards playing both last season. An experiment that seem to have worked. Either of them will have a good selection of targets to whom to throw the ball. Including Rondale Moore, Jackson Anthrop and Jared Sparks. The B-Makers will have to rely heavily on the passing game. Running backs D.J. Knox, Markell Jones and Tario Fuller all have missed practice time. Moreover, Richie Worship´s status following knee surgery is unclear. Walk-on Alexander Horvath and freshman Evan Anderson might have to step it up.

NU is on a roll and have the tools to keep the party going. Plus, the spread is what you’d call huge. The Wildcats could reasonably pull the upset on Purdue.
