As the week progresses, we inch nearer and nearer to this Sunday’s fateful Super Bowl LII betting action. Naturally, sportsbooks for US players are pulling out all the stops in order to make this year’s Super Bowl betting action as gargantuan as possible. Therefore, we’ve decided to break down this year’s Super Bowl matchup as best as possible by comparing opposing offenses and defenses. And since we’ve already taken a look at how the Eagles’ defense matches up against the Patriots’ offense, it’s time to take a look at how New England aims to stop the Birds this NFL betting Sunday.

Nick Foles & Philadelphia’s Offense

Without a doubt, the biggest thing to note is that the Eagles’ offense is being heralded by a backup quarterback. If that weren’t enough, Nick Foles is tasked with going up against what many consider to be the best quarterback the NFL has ever seen. Nevertheless, there’s no question that Foles has both the ability and weapons at his disposal to get the job done. Ultimately, the real question is whether or not Foles can replicate what Eli Manning did to the Patriots twice.

One thing that Foles has going for him is the dominance Philadelphia enjoyed on the ground this season. At the end of the regular season, the Eagles ranked 3rd in the NFL in terms of rushing offense. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be foolish to assume that the Eagles will have a good day on the ground this Sunday. Once the run game is set up, Foles shouldn’t have a hard time finding some open lanes off of the play action.

However, it will be up to Foles to make the throw once the opportunity arrives. Luckily for Philadelphia, Foles has been great this postseason. So far, the backup has thrown for 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions and a 122.1 passer rating. No doubt Eagles fans are pumped about this. But it should be noted that New England will be the toughest challenge Foles has faced yet. Can we count on the backup to deliver this best online sportsbook betting weekend?

Matt Patricia & New England’s Defense

Matt Patricia is the Pats’ defensive coordinator and he is one of the men most responsible for turning this Patriots’ defense around. Early on in the season, NFL betting pundits were harping that the Patriots were the worst defense in pro football. Don’t believe me? Take a look.

But about midway through the season, New England, being the champions that they are, were able to turn that sorry bunch of losers into a well-coached, well-lubricated, offensive stuffing machine. And so far this postseason, there’s no question that New England has delivered the best defensive performance out of the AFC.

All in all, the Pats finished the year with the NFL’s 5th best scoring defense, 29th worst total defense, 30th worst passing defense, and 20th worst rushing defense. Nevertheless, those numbers don’t accurately reflect the shift the Pats underwent midseason.

Notwithstanding that turnaround, the Patriots will likely be unable to stop the Eagles’ running game. That said, bettors can expect Foles to enjoy some success off of the play action. Sportsbooks for US players know that might not be enough to deter Brady however.
