The NFC South has been called one of the shakiest divisions in pro football over the last few years. The reason being, that the South is notorious for producing a different playoff contender each year, while the other three teams struggle to remain above .500. But that nomenclature doesn’t seem to apply this season as the NFC South has produced 3 playoff teams this season; the New Orleans Saints, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Carolina Panthers. It’s shocking to say the least, but it is our reality. And this weekend, sportsbooks US players will have to decide who the better team between the Panthers and the Saints is. What do the gambling bets online odds have to say about this NFC South, postseason pairing?

Betting Carolina

The Panthers turned in a highly successful 11-5 season this year to tie with the New Orleans Saints for the lead in the NFC South. However, the Panthers suffered two losses against the Saints this season, so New Orleans decisively took the tie breaker. All in all, Carolina displayed some inconsistencies this season, particular on offense. It’s no mystery that Cam Newton is one of the most sensitive players in the league (we’re not talking physically here) and that has undoubtedly affected the Panthers’ production on the field. Thankfully, the strength of the Panthers’ offense lies in their running game and not their inconsistent passing game.

There’s no question that this will be a great matchup, given the rivalry storyline as well as how great these two matchup against each other. The Saints finished the good sportsbook betting season with the NFL’s 5th best passing attack, 5th best running attack and 2nd best overall offense. The Panthers are pretty well equipped to deal with this threat since they finished the regular season as the 3rd best run defense, 18th best pass defense, and 7th best defense overall. Likewise, the Saints’ defense, which ended up ranked 15th against the pass and 16th against the run, should be able to somewhat deter the Panthers’ offense this weekend. This one could end up going down to the wire.

Betting New Orleans

Like the Panthers, the Saints also turned in an 11-5 record this season. New Orleans got off to a rocky start this year as they lost the first two games of the year right out of the gate. Nevertheless, New Orleans quickly rebounded by winning the 8 following games consecutively. The Saints would have a rocky finish to the year as well since New Orleans went 2-2 through their final 4 games of the season. Included in those losses was a 31-24 deficit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17. The Saints didn’t exactly sit their starters and one has to wonder if this loss will play in the Saints confidence this weekend. Despite this, the good sportsbook betting lines are pegging the Saints as clear betting favorites over their NFC South rivals.

Considering the odds Carolina is facing, taking the Panthers on the money line could prove to be quite profitable. There isn’t much value in taking New Orleans on the money line but you can try your luck on the spread.

Good Sportsbook Betting Lines & Odds:

Carolina Panthers +7 (-115)                       49 (-105)         +260

New Orleans Saints -7 (-105)         49 (-115)         -320
