The 2017 online college football betting season makes it return this weekend with a handful of matchups that are some of the greatest pairings we’ve seen this year. From Wisconsin vs. Illinois, to Penn State vs. Ohio State, there’s a contest to fit ever US sportsbook players’ needs or desires. But even amongst this star-studded lineup, NCAA betting fans will want to pay special attention to this Saturday’s contest between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators. Let’s take a gander at what the latest sportsbook news have to say about the next chapter in this historic rivalry.
The Bulldogs march into this weekend’s contest sporting a flawless 7-0 record that includes an unblemished 4-0 record in SEC play. That sidereal record ranks Georgia first in the SEC’s Eastern division. The Bulldogs have practically been strolling through the 2017 season, as they’ve only been challenged once this season. That challenge came in Georgia’s 2nd game of the season when they faced Notre Dame. The Bulldogs were able to come out on top however, 20-19. Other than that matchup, the Bulldogs have been coasting through their competition and US sportsbooks are predicting a similar turnout this Saturday. Georgia is coming off a 53-28 blowout of the Missouri Tigers. NCAA betting fans betting on this rivalry should put their money on a blowout once again.
Taking a glance at both team’s numbers on the season, it’s clear that the Bulldogs won’t have too much trouble getting the job done this weekend. Georgia is putting up 37.6 points per game to Florida’s 23.7. Yardage wise the Bulldogs are outgaining the Gators 454.3 to 351.2. Defensively the difference is even more significant as Georgia only allots 12.6 points to their opponent each weekend while Florida is giving up around 23. The upset line is extremely lucrative on this one, but a Florida victory over Georgia seems unfeasible considering how both programs have been performing this season.
The Florida Gators slither into this rivalry flashing a rather disappointing 3-3 record that includes a 3-2 record in SEC play. That mediocre conference record ranks the Gators 3rd in the East of the SEC. Florida came into this year’s season as the No. 17 team in the nation. Since then the Gators have fallen out of the national rankings and have been struggling to make the cut ever since. But judging by the fact that Florida is still sitting at .500, it’s safe to say that they can give that dream up. The Gators are coming off a 19-17 loss to Texas A&M that marked the program’s second consecutive loss. The biggest sportsbooks on the web are pegging the Gators as massive underdogs this evening and NCAA betting fans should expect nothing less once it’s all said and done.
This is not a matchup to be betting on Florida. In addition to what we’ve covered regarding straight up bets, the Gators have been pretty atrocious against the spread this season. Florida has posted a 2-4 record ATS in 2017. On the flip side, fans can cash in on much better value if they bet Georgia on the spread. The Bulldogs are 5-2 against the spread this year.
