Looking at the best USA sportsbooks, defending champions Yan and Nunes are favored at UFC 259. Conversely, incumbent light heavyweight champ Blachowicz is the underdog to challenger Adesanya, per the best UFC betting sites.

The third PPV of the year features three championship bouts. The first pits Petr Yan defending his bantamweight title against Aljamain Sterling. The women’s GOAT Amanda Nunes defends her featherweight belt against Megan Anderson. And middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moves up to challenge Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight belt.

Jan Błachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya Odds

Fighter Odds

Adesanya -225

Adesanya is the favorite at the best USA sportsbooks. He entered the promotion with an undefeated 11-0 record (all KOs). He has remained a winner with another nine notches on his belt. Four by KO. Don’t expect the Last Stylebender to go for a takedown.

He has secured exactly zero takedowns in his UFC run. Standing up, he averages 4.10 significant strikes per minute. He only absorbs 2.33. He makes his foes miss 65% of their strikes. Although he moved up a weight class, Adesanya will retain a slight two-inch reach advantage in this fight.

Adesanya has outstruck each of his nine UFC opponents, eight by double digits. He has great kicks which he can unleash equally well from low, middle and high. His quickness catches his opponents unprepared.

His cage psychology, noticeable in his mindf*cks and the traps he sets, makes him very fun to watch. Even his foes can’t help being mesmerized by him. This leads them to get hit time and again without being able to muster up a counter.

Adesanya’s last three outings were Robert Whittaker (won by knockout), Yoel Romero (won by unanimous decision) and Paulo Costa (won by knockout).

Pick: Adesanya -225 by decision.

Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson Odds

Fighter Odds

Anderson +720

Amanda Nunes is the best USA sportsbooks’ favorite. She is well-rounded and averages 2.53 takedowns per 15 minutes. That includes 14 takedowns in her last two fights. She has also outstruck each of her past 10 opponents.

Nunes is very aggressive and closes the distance with an array of strikes. She keeps it vertical and dissects her opponent. Otherwise, she takes the fight to the ground and overwhelms her foe there. Nunes’ last three fights were Holly Holm (won by knockout), Germaine de Randamie (won by unanimous decision) and Felicia Spencer (won by unanimous decision).

Of her 20 professional wins, 16 have come by stoppage. 13 have been knockouts. Three have been submissions. Three of her four losses have been finishes (two KOs, one submission).

Pick: Nunes -1125 by KO.

Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling Odds

Fighter Odds
Yan -115
Sterling -115

It didn’t take Yan long to rise through the bantamweight ranks. He earned getting a title match in his seventh fight with the promotion. Eight of his 15 professional wins have come by stoppage. Seven have been knockouts and one submission.

His single loss was a split decision in 2016. He avenged that loss a year later. Yan has outstruck all except one opponent in the promotion. He averages 6.32 significant strikes per minute. He absorbs just 3.25.

He has gotten at least one takedown in each of his last five outings. He averages 1.46 takedowns per 15 minutes. He is a great boxer. He has a great lead jab which he throws with power and accuracy from either stance.

He can switch easily from right to left. Yan peppers in body shots before going for the head. His kicks are accurate but he uses them to set up his hands.

In his previous fight, Jose Aldo enjoyed success with his leg kicks, but that was a rarity. Yan’s last three bouts were Jimmie Rivera (won by unanimous decision), Urijah Faber (won by knockout) and Jose Aldo (won knockout).

Pick: Yan -115 by KO.
