Heavy betting favorite Tiz the Law is well trained by Barclay Tagg. Consider that Tagg has passed US sportsbooks wins at the Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby. With a win at the Belmont Stakes, he will have wins in each Triple Crown series race.
Todd Pletcher has two entries in the field for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. Pletcher is a seven-time Eclipse Award winner for Outstanding Trainer. The last time for that recognition was 2014. Pletcher ranked third in total earnings among trainers for 2019. He has two career wins at the Kentucky Derby and three more at the Belmont Stakes. In sum Tiz the Law has over $945,000 in earnings. The number eight draw may not be the best but as Tagg said “it could have been worse.” In fact, Tagg has stated that Tiz the Law can best avoid trouble from the eight position. Further, Tagg likes the fact that Tiz the Law has already run successfully at Belmont Park with a Grade 1 win at the Champagne Stakes.
Pletcher thinks that Dr. Post could be “under the radar.” Cause by not running at any of the traditional Kentucky Derby prep races. Which is where horses become well known. Pletcher noted that Dr. Post has performed well at Gulfstream Park.
