Monday night football makes it’s this week with an intriguing matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Carolina Panthers. Let’s not kid ourselves here; every good sportsbook player on the planet knows the Panthers will enter this contest as the heavy betting favorite. But considering how inconsistent Carolina has been all season long in 2017, is a Panther victory guaranteed this Monday night? The NFL betting odds certainly seem to think so and considering that Carolina is coming off a big 20-17 NFC South win over the Atlanta Falcons, it stands to reason that the Panthers should open as the heavy betting favorite. Let’s check on the latest sportsbook news regarding this team to see what the best bet to make this Monday night is.

Betting Miami

The Dolphins come into this Week 10 matchup sporting a 4-4 record that ranks them 3rd in the AFC East, behind the 5-4 Buffalo Bills and the 6-2 New England Patriots. Coming into the 2017 season, most Miami fans felt that their team could’ve been contenders this season and they were right. Except the fact that the injury to Ryan Tannehill in the preseason complete ruined their chance of getting into the playoffs. The team elected to bring in Jay Cutler, much to the ridicule of the biggest sportsbook meme-sters on the planet, and the results have been what we expected: underwhelming. The Fins enter this Monday night game struggling to remain above .500, wielding the league’s worst scoring offense and total offense as well. There’s not much hope for the Dolphins offense this Monday night, especially not against a defense the likes of the Panthers.

Betting Carolina

Carolina pounces into this Monday night football matchup flashing a 6-3 record that ranks them 2nd in the NFC South behind the 7-2 New Orleans Saints. The Panthers 3 losses of the year have come against the New Orleans Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chicago Bears. The last of those three really thrusts this team’s consistency into question but even the best of teams have an off day. Still, even when the Panthers win it doesn’t quite seem like they’re ‘on’. For example, in the Panthers win over the Falcons this past weekend, Carolina came out on top 20-17. Had it not been for the fact that Atlanta has been struggling all season long; 20 points would’ve not been enough to get the job done against the Falcons. There’s no question that the strength of this Panthers’ team lies in their defense and sure they get some credit for holding an offense consisting of Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Devonta Freeman to under 20 points. But the Falcons defense isn’t that foreboding and they should’ve been able to get more than two touchdowns against their unit. We’ll have to see how the Panthers offense does against the Dolphins.

There’s no question that the Panthers defense will be able to shut down Jay Cutler and Miami’s offense this Monday night. The biggest sportsbook question is how many will Carolina’s offense put up? The Dolphins give up the 18th most points in the league with an average of 22.4 points allotted each outing.

Good Sportsbook Betting Lines:

Miami Dolphins +9 (-110)   38 ½ (-109)     +317

Carolina Panthers    -9 (-110)          38 ½ (-111)     -400
