The sportsbooks for US players favor the Huskies when the Boise State Broncos and the Washington Huskies play on Saturday in college football action at Husky Stadium. Boise State is coming into this one following a 10-4 overall season plus a Frisco Bowl win. As for Washington, they went 11-2 overall last season and nabbed a win in the Alamo Bowl against Texas to wrap up their season.

Betting Boise State Broncos
Boise State’s modus operandi on offense last season was the ground attack, which would rank sixth in the country with more than 200 rushing yards on the ground per game. That should be a plus for the Broncos once more this season as QB Taylen Green and running backs George Holani and Ashton Jeanty will return after they combined for more than 2,500 rushing yards on the ground in 2022.
On defense, the Broncos had one of the top pass defenses in the NCAAF last year. They allowed less than 171 passing yards through the air per game. Boise State’s knack for slowing the aerial attack led the Broncos to go UNDER the total in every one of their last six games as road dogs and 13 of their last 14 games on the road overall.
If last season’s stats are an indication of what we can expect from these two teams, the Broncos are matching up quite well with Washington. Boise State’s defense gave up a measly 170.9 passing yards through the air per game in 2022.
They could keep Penix Jr. at bay, while the Broncos’ three-headed running attack could help Boise to control the clock and keep the strong Huskies offense out of the field. The Broncos’ pass rush could make life hard for Penix as well, going up against a UW offensive line that has three new starters.
Betting Washington Huskies
Led by QB Michael Penix Jr., the Washington Huskies will start their search for another ten-win season when they host the Boise State Broncos. Washington has had double-digit wins in four of their past six full seasons.
The best online sportsbooks opened them as favorites of more than two TDs against the Broncos, who will be coming off a 10-4 season in 2022. The Huskies have covered the point spread in all five meetings between the schools, most recently a 38-7 trouncing in the 2019 Las Vegas Bowl.
The Huskies boast the second-longest winning streak among Power 5 schools after they closed out last season with seven straight wins in a row and four consecutive covers. Penix Jr. led one of the most dangerous offenses in the country.
He threw for the second-most passing yards through the air in the country. Washington averaged over 500 yards per game. Thousand-yard receivers Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan will also be back, but Washington’s offensive backfield suffered a big loss with the departure of Cameron Davis due to a season-ending injury.
Mississippi State transfer Dillon Johnson might be the Huskies’ best College Football bet at running back after he averaged more than five yards per carry in three seasons with the Bulldogs.
The Huskies were susceptible to the pass last season, but they were solid against the run. They ranked within the top 25 in rush defense. If Washington is able to shut down Boise State’s running game, Green and the Broncos are going to have a hard time putting up enough points on the scoreboard to keep up with a Huskies offense that scored almost 40 points per game in 2022.
Boise State Broncos vs. Washington Huskies Pick
We are likely going to stick with the Huskies here. One could make a case for Boise State, however. We think that the Broncos are going to keep it close. Having said that, Washington has a pretty good roster on both sides of the ball this year.
They should be able to do some real damage with their schedule. On top of the skilled offense, the Huskies have a neat defensive unit too. The linebackers are bound to excel behind a brilliant line that has pro-level talent with Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui.
Should that unit be able to produce a few takeaways and put pressure early on, it is going to be a long day on the offensive for the Broncos. It ought to be a fun match all in all, but we think that Washington will power out a cover at sportsbooks for US players.
