We’ve barely reached the middle of the week but already US online sportsbook players are looking for the best spread betting action of this weekend’s action. Week 9 of the NFL will be held this weekend and there are ample opportunities for players to turn a profit. Although spread betting doesn’t have odd with a crazy high payout like money line betting often has, it still offers some of the best and safest bets to make. Let’s take a look at your best sportsbook options on the spread line ahead of this weekend’s pairings.
Denver Broncos vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The 3-4 Denver Broncos look to travel to Philadelphia to upset the winningest team in the NFL. Philadelphia rides a 6 game win streak into this matchup and although the Broncos aren’t an easy team to beat, most NFL bookmakers have the Eagles winning this one. The money line hasn’t come out on this one yet but considering that Philly is a -8 favorite on the spread, bettors can expect the straight up line to heavily tilt in the Eagles favor.
The Broncos are coming off a 29-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. This is of note in this contest because even though the Chiefs have the 3rd best scoring offense in the NFL, the Eagles aren’t that far behind, wielding the league’s 4th best scoring offense. The Broncos defense is exemplary, but if the Chiefs can score on them, so can the Birds. Take Philly on the spread on this one.
Broncos +8 (-110) 43½ (-110)
Eagles -8 (-110) 43½ (-110)
Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Giants
The 5-2 Rams will be traveling to New York to take on the 1-6 Giants on the road. Big Blue has not been having the success they would’ve liked this season and naturally the Rams are the heavy betting favorite in this matchup. However, given how unproven of a football team Los Angeles is, the best sportsbooks on the internet are predicting a mighty close contest on this one with a 3 point prediction on the spread.
That seems to be too close of a prediction, given that the Giants have the NFL’s 27th worst total defense, 27th worst pass defense, and 23rd worst run defense. With those kind of numbers, New York is going to have a hard time stopping anybody. To help put things in perspective, the Giants’ terrible defense is will have to find some way to deter the NFL’s 2nd best scoring offense. When considering how poorly the Giants are against both the run and the pass, it’s doubtful that they’ll be able to shut down even one aspect of LA’s offense. Bottom line, the Rams will beat the Giants by more than three.
Rams -3½ (-103) 42 (-110)
Giants +3½ (-117) 42 (-110)
Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans
The 2-6 Colts look to pick up a road win against many consider to be the best team in the division, even though the 3-4 Houston Texans currently rank 3rd in the AFC South. The Colts come into this game riding a 3 game losing streak while Houston is coming off a 41-38 loss to the Seattle Seahawks but they should have no problem bouncing back against Indy. However, they’re not going to beat the Colts by 13. Take Indianapolis on the spread.
Colts +13 (-110) 50 (-115)
Texans -13 (-110) 50 (-105)
Oakland Raiders vs. Miami Dolphins
There’s not much that needs to be said about this one. Sure, the Raiders are coming off an embarrassing performance against the Bills, but that just proves that Oakland is inconsistent not that they’re a bad team. Considering that the Fins have Cutler under center, and that the franchise just starting trading away their best players in a foolish attempt to make a point, Oakland will unquestionably cover the 3 point spread. This is probably the easiest and best sportsbook bet to make this weekend.
Raiders -3 (-115) 44 (-105)
Dolphins +3 (-105) 44 (-115)
