With the start of the 2017 online NFL betting season right around the corner, the biggest football betting fans have been sent scrambling in search of the best sportsbook bets to make on the league’s Week 1 action. There are more wagering opportunities than one would care to count, so it’s imperative that fans find the perfect odds for a wager that they’re comfortable with.

One contest that fans might like is this Sunday’s matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears. Accounting for the kind of season both teams had last season, it’s safe to assume that the Falcons will come in as the biggest sportsbook favorite on Sunday. Let’s find out when it all goes down before we break down the odds available.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Chicago Bears – Sunday, September 10th

Venue: Soldier Field, Chicago

Start Time: 1:00 pm ET

TV Broadcast: Fox

Online Streaming Options: Fox Sports Go, NFL Game Pass

At first glance, this contest might not be that appealing. The reigning NFC champions should have little difficulty taking care of the team that finished last in the NFC North last season. But upon closer inspection, there are a number of unraveling storylines that deserve our attention – for both teams.

The Falcons have to deal with the US online sportsbook dilemma that is suffering a Super Bowl loss, that is an extremely embarrassing Super Bowl loss. No team has ever blown a lead like the one Atlanta blew this past February. For comparison, the Seahawks suffered a bit of humiliation in a Super Bowl at the hands of the New England Patriots as well and haven’t been able to make it back to the NFL title game since.

On the other hand, the Bears have their own problems to face. Granted, they are very different from the Falcons but still very real. Specifically, Chicago has to find their identity. The franchise is currently rebuilding and it’s still uncertain if this is an offensive team, a defensive team, or even an NFL team.

US Online Sportsbook Odds:

Atlanta Falcons -7 (EV)        49½ (-110)      -290

Chicago Bears +7 (-120)      49½ (-110)      +237

As imagined, the Falcons enter this Sunday’s contest as US online sportsbook betting favorites.

Atlanta finished the 2016 regular season with an 11-5 record that granted the Falcons an NFC South title as well as a 1st round bye in the playoffs. The Falcons faced the Seahawks in the divisional round and promptly handed them a 36-20 beating. Atlanta then squared off against the Green Bay Packers and despite Aaron Rodgers’ best efforts, the Falcons defeated the Pack defiantly 44-21. Atlanta would go on to make history by blowing a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl, but that had no effect on the fact that they had 6 players picked for the Pro Bowl and 4 AP All-Pros.

In John Fox’s second year at the helm, the Bears slumped their way to a 3-13 record to finish last in the division. The Bears had two players selected for the Pro Bowl but none were picked as All-Pros.

US Online Sportsbook Picks: This one is simple. Don’t bet against Atlanta.
