If nothing else, the 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star Game is good for some betting action at the best USA sportsbooks. It will be the 92nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game. It is going to pit the American League (AL) against the National League (NL) of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the game at Dodger Stadium on July 19.

2022 MLB All-Star Game Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers were awarded the 2022 MLB All-Star Game after plans for the 2020 MLB All-Star Game fell through as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the US. This will be the fourth occasion that the Dodgers host the All-Star Game.

The previous prior times were in 1949 at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn (back when they were the Brook-lyn Dodgers), 1959 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and 1980 at Dodger Stadium. Dodgers Sta-dium concession workers agreed to greenlight a strike ahead of the game. They demand “a fair new union contract.”

The rosters for the MLB All-Star Game were unveiled on Sunday, July 10. All starting players were picked by the fans. Reserves were chosen through the player ballot system as well as the Commis-sioner’s Office.

The National League’s designated hitter Bryce Harper will not play due to a thumb injury he suffered against the San Diego Padres in June. With Harper missing, William Contreras will start as designated hitter. This will make the Contreras brothers the first pair of brothers to start in an All-Star Game to-gether since Roberto and Sandy Alomar started for the American League in 1992.

The American League have the benefit of a stacked line-up replete with New York Yankees players. The Yanks’ 61 wins this season has them in first place in every division and league. Lead hitter Aaron ‘Dredd’ Judge has accrued 30 homers this season.

He is on track to hitting 60 by the end of the year. There is somewhat of a home-field advantage for the American League, which has four Dodgers players in the roster. That includes starters Mookie ‘Blaylock’ Betts and Trea Turner.

Betting National League vs. American League

The National League features five All-Star picks from the reigning World Series Champs, the Atlanta Braves. Giants hitter Joc Pederson has displayed mad skills as a clutch hitter this season. It’s hard to ignore how dominating the American League has been in the last decade. That alone makes it a favor-ite at the best online sportsbooks.

The National League has not won the All-Star Game since 2012. As per usual, the American League team just looks superior. Shohei Ohtani looks like the best pitcher in the Majors right no. And Aaron Judge is heading for an MVP season.

The AL reserve list is pretty deep too. The National League has little to offer in the outfield and will really miss Bryce Harper. He was having one of the best seasons of his career before he sustained an injury. It appears as if the American League will take home a 10th straight title and their 47th overall.

2022 MLB All-Star Game Pick

Since it is the All-Star Game, the best USA sportsbooks have to compare the star power on each side. In terms of who has more stars, it is the American League by far. I mean, Cleveland Guardians’ third baseman Jose Ramirez is a reserve, for Pete’s sake! American League 7, National League 5.

Home Run Derby Predictions

The Home Run Derby is going to take place the night prior to the All-Star Game. It will see some of the heaviest hitters in the Majors try to belt as many homers as they possibly can in three minutes. The Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez has not announced whether he will participate in the Home Run Derby after a hand injury.

Alvarez has the fastest average of exit velocity of any player in the league at 96.0 mph. This means that, on average, Alvarez hits harder than Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, and even Giancarlo Stanton. Reigning champ Pete Alonso will return this year to attempt three back-to-back Home Run Derby wins.

Alonso won the 2019 and 2021 competitions when he nailed 23 home runs in each of the finals. Alonso doesn’t hit as hard – he only averages 90.6 mph on exit velocity – but he hits well. However, if Giancarlo Stanton shows up, it could be all over but the crying. He won the 2016 Derby but has not participated since 2017. Stanton is a power hitter with the fastest maximum exit velocity of any player – 119.8 mph. Eight of the ten hardest hits in the MLB since 2015 belong to him.
