Super Bowl History Of the Kansas City Chiefs – The Kansas City Chiefs have played a significant role in the Super Bowl both at the very beginning and recently. And… that’s about it. They weren’t very instrumental in the middle years. Sure, they had some great teams. And some great players. Derrick Thomas. Trent Green. Joe Cool (after he left the Bay Area). You can probably name many others. Those guys, however, weren’t enough to lead the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes (as well as Travis Kelce and Andy Reid) were.

The Chiefs’ Super Bowl record is 4-2. This game against the Eagles is actually their seventh Super Bowl, third in a row, and fifth since Super Bowl 54. The Chiefs are, as of this writing, a slim favorite. Their Super Bowl history is storied and, perhaps they’ll build on it. If you believe that they will, then you can absolutely bet that here at Best online sportsbooks. Of course, if you believe that the game will go the other way, towards the Birds, you can bet that, too.

The First Super Bowl

When the AFL and NFL played their first championship game, the Chiefs were the representatives from the AFL. And they were deserving representatives, the strongest team in the new league. However, they were no match for the mighty Packers. Bart Star led the Pack to victory.

In January 1967, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Packers won 35-10. Reports at the time said that the game wasn’t as close as that score would indicate (which is something, because that score is not very close). The Chiefs would, however, have a chance again not long from this game.

Super Bowl 4

There are teams that have had bad luck winning championships, and then there’s the Minnesota Vikings. Newer fans may not realize that the Vikings have been to Super Bowls, they really have. They just never won one. They certainly took a loss in January of 1970 at Tulane Stadium. The Chiefs came back to the Super Bowl and this time, they were the team doing the blowing out.

The Chiefs won this game 23-7. This was the first Super Bowl win for the Chiefs and actually just the second by an AFC team (after the Jets beat the Colts the year prior).

Super Bowl 54

Super Bowl History Of the Kansas City Chiefs – If you just skimmed this blog, then you may have noticed that, in the span of just a heading, we jumped ahead in time quite a bit. We went from Super Bowl 4 to Super Bowl 54. That’s how long it took the Chiefs to get back to the Super Bowl. All those good teams, all those good players, and they just never could get to the game.

For example, even if they had the best record in the AFC, they might lose in the first round of the playoffs (like they did in a shocking upset in the 90s to the Indianapolis Colts – led by QB Jim Harbaugh).

That all changed, however, when Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs into Miami to play the 49ers in February of 2020. “Led” may not be the right word because the Kansas City Chiefs trailed for a lot of this game. However, they were able to come back and claim the city’s first NFL championship in five decades.

Super Bowl 55

The next year, the Chiefs returned to the Super Bowl, but, this time, they lost. The Chiefs went into the game with many injuries to the offensive line, and that was just not enough to withstand a fearsome Tampa Bay Buccaneer defense. Speaking of “fearsome,” that was the offense led by Tom Brady. The Bucs walloped the Chiefs in this game, winning 31-9.

Super Bowl 57

A few years later, (during some intense dueling with Joe Burrow and the Bengals), the Chiefs returned to the big game. This time, they would play the Philadelphia Eagles. This game was close, back and forth from the very beginning. There was a lot of bend but don’t break defense, as well as some bend and break defense. The Eagles one turnover turned the tide, and the Chiefs won late, edging them out by a score of 38-35.

Super Bowl 58

The big game last year was one for the ages. Big moments in this game folks forget: when the 49ers lost a starting middle linebacker. They were playing better defense before that than they were after. That’s when the Chiefs started to come back and eventually did so, winning the Super Bowl in overtime.

Super Bowl 59…?

What do you think is going to happen in this one? Will Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs continue this incredible run? Or, will the Eagles stake their claim to NFL history? You can bet it all right here at Best online sportsbooks.
