There are approximately 40 bowl games scheduled for the 2019-20 NCAAF postseason. But not all are good enough for the best gambling sites. That is, it’s safe to say that you could bet on each and every one of them. The thing is, they don’t all generate the same amount of interest.
For instance, the Potato Bowl is not the same as the Fiesta Bowl, because Ohio is not the same as Ohio State. And with that segue, let’s have a look at the Top College Football Betting Bowl Games in 2019-2020.
Fiesta Bowl (aka the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl)
• Date: December 28, 2019
• Stadium: State Farm Stadium
• Location: Glendale, Arizona
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Clemson | -2 (-110) | 63½ (-110) | -130 | |
Ohio State | +2 (-110) | 63½ (-110) | +110 | |
Back in 2016, OSU entered the Fiesta Bowl as a 3.5-point favorite, according to the best online sportsbooks. The Tigers promptly shut the Buckeyes out 31-0. I predict this year’s Fiesta Bowl will see a reversal of that situation. Clemson will enter as a small favorite, but Ohio State will dominate and upset the reigning and defending national champions.
Peach Bowl (aka the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl)
• Date: December 28, 2019
• Stadium: Mercedes-Benz
• Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Oklahoma | +14 (-110) | 75½ (-110) | +415 | |
LSU | -14 (-110) | 75½ (-110) | -525 | |
The Tigers beat Georgia in the 2019 SEC Championship Game on December 7th. LSU then received their bid to the Peach Bowl with the release of final CFP rankings the following day. Louisiana State enters the bowl with a 13-0 SU record (8-0 in conference play). And with a 10-3 ATS record, per the best gambling sites.
The Sooners defeated Baylor in 2019 Big 12 Championship Game on December 7th. The next day they received their bid to the Peach Bowl. Oklahoma enters the bowl with a 12-1 SU (81 in conference) and 5-8 ATS record. I’m tempted to fade LSU, though that, of course, doesn’t mean Oklahoma will win outright.
Sugar Bowl
• Date: January 1, 2020
• Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
• Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Baylor | +7½ (-120) | 41½ (-110) | +245 | |
Georgia | -7½ (EV) | 41½ (-110) | -290 | |
The Bears earned their spot as the runners-up in the Big 12, since Oklahoma was selected as one of the four teams in the College Football Playoff. This will be Baylor’s second Sugar Bowl, as well as their first since their 1957 win over Tennessee, 13-7. The Bulldogs secured their berth as SEC runners-up since LSU was also selected as one of the four teams in the CFP. This will be Georgia’s 11th Sugar Bowl. They have a 4-6 record in prior editions of the bowl.
It will also be UGA’s second straight Sugar Bowl, after their loss to Texas in the 2019 edition, 28-21. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs. Georgia won each of the prior four encounters, most recently in 1989, 15-3. Methinks the Bulldogs will make it 5-0 this time around.
Rose Bowl
• Date: January 1, 2020
• Stadium: Rose Bowl
• Location: Pasadena, California
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Wisconsin | -2½ (-120) | 51½ (-110) | -143 | |
Oregon | +2½ (EV) | 51½ (-110) | +123 | |
The Ducks secured a berth in the Rose Bowl with a win over the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Oregon enters the Rose Bowl with an 11-2 record (8-1 in conference play) as well as 7-6 ATS. This will be Oregon’s eighth appearance in the Rose Bowl. The Ducks have a record of 3-4 in previous appearances. They last appeared in the 2015 edition against the Florida State Seminoles.
The Badgers finished their 2019 season schedule with a 10-3 SU record (7-3 in conference). They also went 8-5 against the spread, according to the best gambling sites. Wisconsin was defeated by Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game. The Badgers earned an invitation to the Rose Bowl on December 8, 2019.
They are 3-6 in prior Rose Bowl appearances, most recently playing in the 2013 edition versus the Stanford Cardinal. Wisconsin did cover against OSU, which is a ringing endorsement for their Rose Bowl appearance.
