Betting Miocic
Stipe Miocic enters as the betting favorite for this matchup and there’s plenty of reasons why. Miocic is coming off an impressive manhandling of one of the scariest dudes on the planet, Francis Ngannou, who will actually be on the main card. Leading up to that fight, the UFC and everyone on the planet was expecting a brutal KO from Ngannou, who had been flipping heads along every step of the way. In fact, Ngannou had just done giving Alistair Overeem the biggest punch of life, which is impressive to say the least. But using superior tactics, experience, and conditioning, Miocic contained Ngannou’s explosiveness and rode him to fatigue. Fatigue makes cowards of us all and it did just that to Ngannou. In one of Cormier’s most recent fights versus Jon Jones, we saw Cormier get tired and lower his defenses. Afterwards came a head kick from Jones. Miocic might employ a similar strategy since he’s got the stamina. He’s also got a weight, size and reach advantage over DC.
Betting Cormier
DC might be outgunned but he certainly won’t be outmatched. As arguably the greatest Light Heavyweight to ever compete in the UFC, Cormier’s skills are beyond reproach. We’ve seen him flip men much bigger than him before and it’s no stretch to think he can do it again. But Miocic’s wrestling is far from mediocre. The question then is, is Cormier’s wrestling good enough to put Miocic in a compromising position. For 99.9% percent of the fighters it undoubtedly is, but Miocic is in his own right as the greatest Heavyweight to ever compete in the UFC.
