UFC 279 Betting Chimaev

In all five of his UFC fights, Chimaev has been the favorite at the best online sportsbooks, though never by as much as he is now versus Diaz. At UFC Fight Island 3, he fought Rhys McKee as a -1400 fave.

The Chechen lived up to the hype. He blasted the Irishman with constant attacks on the ground and out-striking him 68-0 en route to a first-round finish. Chimaev has only gotten better since then. He most recently withstood a grueling match against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. He won by decision in a bout he entered as the -550 favorite, according to the best offshore gambling sites.

Pressure, grappling, strength, stamina; — Chimaev displayed all of these in his last fight against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. For the first time in the UFC, his opponent took him past the second round and all the way to a decision, but Khamzat prevailed in the end.

The six-foot-two brawler switched stances, busted out combos and outwitted his foe for a decision win against a first-class contender like Burns. That’s not to say that the Brazilian did not rock him, but when he did, Chimaev actually thrived on it, showing a willingness to keep exchanging blows.
It’s rare to see a young fighter like Chimaev possess such polished je ne se quas together with a demolishing physical profile.

The 28-year-old is a bona fide future UFC superstar. Coming off a brutal battle with Burns, he should be in superb form, mentally as well as physically. This spells doom for the older, less in good shape Diaz.
Chimaev often employs his freestyle grappling in his bouts to get his opponents on the mat. Once he is on top, he utilizes several techniques to wrest control away from his opponents and connect heavy ground-and-pound blows or go for the submissions.

At the same time he forces his weight towards them. His wrestling has been frequently compared to that of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s, because of the similarities between the two, for example the handcuff lock and the leg hook.

UFC 279 Betting Diaz

Nate Diaz is the underdog at the best offshore gambling sites. Diaz, a 15-year veteran with the company, heads into the bout as a long underdog. These are literally the steepest odds of his storied career. The left handed last fought Leon Edwards at UFC 263. He entered as a +350 underdog.

That tied for the second-biggest dog status of his career. The other was +350 at UFC 196 versus Conor McGregor). After he lost to Edwards by decision, the 37-year-old is on a two-fight losing streak.
There is no question that Diaz has had an exciting UFC career. However, for a guy who has won just one fight in the last six years, there are worries about his motivation and his work ethic going into what’s likely his last fight in the promotion.

Nate takes after his older brother Nick. Both have always had a short fuse inside the Octagon. It’s a toss up as to which Nate Diaz we will see at UFC 279. Will Diaz remain active with his long-range strikes and maybe even make use of his undervalued wrestling and jiu-jitsu skills? Or will the Stockton native talk the talk but not walk the walk, in order to have the last word in his contentious relationship with Dana White?

In his previous bout against Edwards, Diaz sent the Englishman reeling in the fifth round. Always the entertainer, Nate chose to admire his handiwork instead of finishing his opponent off. It is going to be interesting to see Diaz’s in-fight attitude with Chimaev in this lopsided matchup.

UFC 279 Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev Pick

Diaz is cannon fodder for Chimaev. The latter is unstoppable when he picks up momentum and puts the heat on foes in the octagon. There’s a good chance that Diaz, who has fought off his heels recently, is overcome by this pressure almost from the get-go.

Nate is outmatched in weight, strength, punching and wrestling. Chimaev is a monster of a fighter. He promised to “handle Nate Diaz’s funeral with the UFC.” We tend to agree with him, expecting that he will finish Diaz off early in the fight. Chimaev via KO/TKO in the first round.
