MLB Opening Day can bring you some early winnings at the best offshore gambling sites. The Baltimore Orioles are the best bet at the best online sportsbooks, while the Texas Rangers are the worst.
No franchise embodies the hope of the MLB’s Opening Day quite like the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s haven’t had a record higher than .500 since 2016, but they own the league’s best record in season openers in the past two decades.
Even though they lost their past three opening games, the Orioles have a 15-5 record in the past 20 openers. With a solid starter like John Means on the mound for Baltimore on Friday, the Orioles could pull off the upset to start off your baseball betting campaign at the best offshore gambling sites.
If you had bet $100 on the past 23 Rangers openers, you would have lost $802.98. In the last eight seasons, Texas has won just two games to begin the season. They have been outscored by 24 runs. Playing versus a solid Toronto Blue Jays team to start the 2022 season, fading the Rangers is a no-brainer.
The Three Best MLB Opening Games to Bet On
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Pirates | +1½ ( -120 ) | 8 ( -105 ) | +175 | |
Cardinals | -1½ ( EV) | 8 ( -115 ) | -185 | |
We do not usually like to bet on the run line, but there isn’t any value in taking the Cards on the moneyline at the best offshore gambling sites. The Cardinals are our pick to win the division. We think they can easily take care of the Pirates, who are projected to win 69 games, by at least two runs.
Adam Wainwright gets the Opening Day gig versus JT Brubaker. Brubaker has allowed a .349 batting average and an expected slugging of .567 against the Cardinals in 90 plate appearances. Wainwright, on the other hand, has allowed a batting average of .112 to this very same Pirates lineup with a 29% K rate. Waino wasn’t at his best in spring training, but he shouldn’t have any difficulty taking care of Pittsburgh at home.
MLB Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Brewers | -1½ ( -120 ) | 10 ( -115 ) | -175 | |
Cubs | -1½ ( EV ) | 10 ( -105 ) | +165 | |
Milwaukee enhanced their lineup by adding Hunter Renfroe and Andrew McCutchen. This will be helpful in both the outfield as well as the newly added National League designated hitter position. Even if neither did well against right-handers last year, this offense is better than it was last season.
The Cubs’ offense has also improved even though they traded away their former World Series core in the offseason. Nick Madrigal can play ball with the best of them. He is still in development, but in his short career so far he has an above-average 106 wRC+ against righties.
Seiya Suzuki crushed the ball while playing in Japan. He could be a candidate for the National League Rookie of the Year award. Last season, the Cubs had just one player with an xwOBA over .300 against curveballs and sliders. Frank Schwindel was that player and his was only at .307. If Burnes can mix in his off-speed stuff with cutters, it is hard to see a scenario where the Cubs can hit against him.
Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets
Team | SP/RL | TOTAL | ML | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Nationals | +1½ ( +120) | 9 ( -120 ) | -127 | |
Mets | -1½ ( -140) | 9 ( EV ) | +117 | |
The Mets new starting pitcher that they landed in free agency last year is Max Scherzer. He signed with the Mets this offseason from Washington. The Nationals traded away their top players in favor of a rebuild, and Scherzer had to go as well.
A big part of that young Nationals’ team is outfielder Juan Soto. Soto will be just 23 years old for this season. He is one of the best and most promising players in the Majors. Soto has a homer against deGrom in his career, but only three total hits in 15 at-bats.
