Top College Football sportsbooks favor the road team by six points when the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma State Cowboys play a college football game in a week 8 Big 12 conference NCAAF matchup at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Texas Longhorns (5-2 SU, 5-2 ATS) have won 3 straight games following a slow start to the season. Each of those games that they have won one after the other came at their home field or on a neutral site. Things could change when the Longhorns make a trip to pay a visit to the Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-1, 4-2). The latter are riding a ten-game winning streak at their home field Boone Pickens Stadium.

Barring any unforeseen event vis a vis line movement at the best online sportsbooks throughout the week, the Cowboys are going to be home underdogs for the very first time since thee 2019 season. And just the 6th time since the 2015 season. Oklahoma State has played and won straight up in 4 of its past five games as a home underdog.

Betting Texas Longhorns

Seven days after they romped over the Oklahoma Sooners 49-0 in the rivalry known as the Red River Showdown, Texas turned foreseeably flat last week even as they were a 16-point fave at top sportsbooks over Iowa State.

The Longhorns were in need of a late touchdown pass thrown by Quinn Ewers to go ahead and take their first lead of the game. They didn’t seal the deal until they recovered a fumble with 2 minutes left on the clock.

Ewers went on to finish the contest with three touchdown passes that he threw. He was also held to just 172 passing yards through the air. Texas’ offensive attack was led by the player in the running back position called Bijan Robinson.

He would crack the 100-rushing yard mark on the ground for the 5th consecutive week. The Longhorns can be said to have won three straight games. They have gone 6-2 ATS against the spread in their past 8 games. The majority of those games have been taking place at their home field or on a neutral site. Going on the road has been a very much different take as of late for Texas. They have gone 4-8 SU straight-up and ATS against the spread in their past 12 as the visiting team playing away from home.

Texas’ biggest advantage that they have in this game is their defensive play. They have not given up more than 21 points in not one of their five games this 2022 season. By way of stark contrast, Oklahoma State has been allowing close to 33 points per game this season in Big 12 conference play. They are especially vulnerable to the passing game. They are ranking 126th in the country in passing yards allowed through the air.

Betting Oklahoma State Cowboys

Oklahoma State is fresh off its first losing effort of the season. And just its second loss in 13 games going back to last season. After they raced to an early lead of 14-0 last week at TCU, the Cowboys could only manage two field goals in the second half while the Horned Frogs mounted a rally to force the game to go into overtime. The latter would eventually prevail 43-40 in double overtime.

Cowboys starting quarterback Spencer Sanders rushed for Oklahoma State’s first 2 Tds. He went on to finish the game with 68 rushing yards on the ground. Thus becoming the program’s all-time player with the most rushing yards in his position.

However, Sanders was not effective passing through the air. He misfired on 20 of his 36 passes for 1 TD and one pick. Some of Sanders’ issues we could attributed to an injury he has been dealing with in his throwing shoulder which he sustained the prior week.

The veteran signal-caller was adamant about not using that as an excuse after the loss. Nonetheless, it will be of interest to see whether or not Sanders is going to look better with one more week to recover from the injury that we just mentioned in the preceding paragraph as the Pokes do seek their 11th consecutive victory playing at their home field.
