The Syracuse Orange are six-point favorites against the Western Michigan Broncos, per the best offshore gambling sites (now with mobile betting). Even though we don’t know yet who will be SU’s starting QB. The people who trust head coach Dino Babers can rest assured he will never betrayed. Because he won’t name names. Mind you, he has already made up his mind. He probably just like to see Eric Dungey Tommy DeVito squirm. That might not be a good idea. You don’t want to piss Tommy DeVito off. He just might shoot your foot off. And whatever you do, don’t tell him you think he’s funny. Much less call him a shoeshine boy. It’s a good thing Dungey is so fearless. You have to be very brave to go against Tommy DeVito. What are you going to do? Muscle him? He is the muscle. Oh wait, that was Casino.
“This is the first time I’ve ever had a Year 3 anywhere,” Babers said. Somehow that doesn’t fill me with confidence in the future of Syracuse football. And considering he has gone 8-16 in his first two years at SU, one wonders about its present too. On the other hand, Syracuse has gone 4-8 three years running. So Babers should not be held responsible. Dungey has missed the last three games of his freshman, sophomore and junior years. So maybe it’s all on him. Hey that’s one more reason to start Tommy DeVito. You know Tommy DeVito doesn’t fudge around. In all honesty, though, Dungey has been impaired by injuries.
“Last year was kind of a freak accident,” said Dungey. “Obviously, I’ve got to be smarter with the ball, but you never can try to avoid injuries. Injuries happen.” Especially to people who likes to backflip off of things. Like boathouses and 20-foot-ledges. Well, at least there is a possibility that both Dungey and DeVito play against WMU. “It all depends on how the score goes,” Babers said.
It’s Wassink or swim for the Broncos. Western Michigan is at is best when starting QB Jon Wassink is calling the signals. WMU went 5-3 before Wassink’s 2017 season came to an abrupt injury-induced end. The Broncos went 1-3 without him. Wassink finished with 1,391 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also had 126 rushing yards with three touchdowns. And two receptions, 40 yards, two touchdowns.
Wassink believes WMU’s offense will greatly improve now that head coach Tim Lester is also offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. “I know it’s been great for me personally, to get to know coach Lester better and to know what he’s thinking because he is going to be calling the plays this year,” he said. “Just being around him a second year is huge. Coach Lester is a great offensive mind, he was a great quarterback here and I feel like we are that much further along now that he has been here two years and we can move forward as a program.”

Our Prediction: Sometimes one can assess a whole team by just one player. Especially if it’s the QB. One has to decide whether Dungey is actually fearless or just reckless. If the former, go with Syracuse. If the latter, go with WMU. Unless Tommy DeVito starts. Then all bets are off. Figuratively, not literally.
