The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Dallas Cowboys in a battle for first place in the NFC East on Sunday night football on NBC. The Eagles handed the Vikings their first loss of the season last week and now they will try and go into Dallas and take out the Cowboys. Sunday’s game will feature two young quarterbacks who are playing well in Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott. Philadelphia has done well recently at Dallas covering four of the last five meetings.

This matchup in Week 8 is set for Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 8:30 pm Eastern on NBC.

Dallas -4.5, 43.5

Eagles at Cowboys

The quarterbacks for both teams are playing well as Wentz has eight TDs and just three interceptions while completing 118 of 185 passes for 1,324 yards. Prescott has thrown 7 TDs and has just one interception as he has completed 125 of 182 passes for 1,486 yards.

The Eagles are just a game behind Dallas but one of the two losses for Philly came in the NFC East so a loss would really put them three games back of Dallas as they would be two games back but 0-2 in the division.

This game between Philadelphia and Dallas is a rivalry game with a lot of strong feelings associated with it. Cedric Thornton, who signed with Dallas after playing with the Eagles said both teams hate each other. “It’s the same perspective we got here — we hate ’em,” Thornton said. “Just like we hate everybody else in the division. We hate them.”

If the Eagles are to win this game they have to contain Ezekiel Elliott who leads the league in rushing. Elliott leads the NFL with seven rushes of 20 yards or more. The Dallas offense has been very effective even though Dez Bryant has missed the past three games. Dallas will be getting Dez back into the lineup this week so Prescott should have even more success throwing the ball.

Sunday Night NFL Picks

This is an interesting game as the Eagles proved last week they are a real contender while the Cowboys just continue to win games with Prescott at quarterback. The Eagles have traditionally done well at Dallas but this year’s Cowboys team seems different with Prescott and Elliott. I will lay the points at the best sports betting sites and take the Cowboys at home.
