Betting Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are road dogs according to the best online sportsbooks. The 2022 season is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 90th in the NFL, and 16th under head coach Mike Tomlin. This is the first time since 2003 that long-time QB Ben Roethlisberger is not going to be on the roster.

He announced his retirement on January 27, 2022. It will also mark the first season since 1999 that long-time General Manager Kevin Colbert will not be the GM of the Steelers. He announced on January 28, 2022, that following 22 years with the organization, he would step down after the 2022 NFL Draft. He was succeeded by Omar Khan as GM and Andy Weidl as assistant GM on May 25, 2022.

The Steelers failed to improve upon their 12–4 record from 2020 in 2021. They failed as well to win their division in consecutive years for the first time since 2016–2017. However, they made the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 2014–2017 after they defeated the Baltimore Ravens, plus the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Indianapolis Colts.

All of this took place in the Sunday games of Week 18. However, the Steelers lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs 42–21. For the first time since 2009, center Maurkice Pouncey was not on the roster. He retired on February 12.

And for the first time since 2011, guard David DeCastro was not on the roster either. He was released by the Steelers on June 24. It was also Big Ben’s last season following 18 seasons with the Steelers. He announced his retirement on January 27, 2022. A six-time Pro Bowler, Roethlisberger led the Steelers to 12 postseason appearances and three Super Bowls, winning two of them in 2005 and 2008.

He retired ranking 5th in all-time in passing yards, and was the last remaining active QB from the 2004 Draft class. It was also the last season that the team’s home stadium was known as Heinz Field. It was announced that the naming rights were acquired by Michigan-based insurance company Acrisure after Kraft-Heinz, who owned the original rights since 2001, opted not to sign a new deal with the Steelers.

This officially ended their 21-year business arrangement, changing the name to Acrisure Stadium in the process. The decision to rename the stadium has had an overwhelmingly negative reception by Steelers fans.

Betting Cincinnati Bengals

The Striped Ones are home chalk at sites for betting in the NFL. The 2022 season will be the Cincinnati Bengals’ 53rd in the NFL, 55th overall and fourth under head coach Zac Taylor. The Bengals will look to reach the Super Bowl in consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history, after they reached Super Bowl LVI the prior season. Shortly before the start of the preseason, the Bengals renamed their stadium Paycor Stadium. The stadium had been dubbed after the team’s founder and first head coach, Paul Brown since 2000.

The Bengals finished 2021 with a 10–7 record. They exceeded their win total from the previous two years combined. The Bengals secured their first winning season, first postseason appearance, and first AFC North division title since 2015.

It also was their first Super Bowl appearance since 1988, when they lost Super Bowl XXIII. The Bengals started their postseason run beating the Las Vegas Raiders in the Wild Card round. They won their first playoff game since 1990, and ended the league’s longest playoff win drought.

They beat top-seeded Tennessee Titans in the divisional round. This not only marked their first-ever playoff road win but also earned them a berth in the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 1988.

They upset the second-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in OT. As a result, they went on to Super Bowl LVI, their third Super Bowl in franchise history and first in 33 years. QB Joe Burrow became the first second-year QB since Russell Wilson in 2013 to appear in a Super Bowl, as well as the first No. First overall-picked QB to do so in their first two seasons. However, the Bengals fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl 23–20.
