The 2023 college football season is just a few weeks away, so now’s the perfect time to make those future wagers across the country. When it comes to college football, there’s no denying the Southeastern Conference continues to be the best league in the sport.
It’s a loaded conference, with great teams and games all season long. There are two programs that top this league, but don’t count some of the other schools.
Here is a look at the current betting odds to win the SEC, plus a pick included in this preview.
Georgia at Odds-On
Betting on SEC football starts with the program that’s standing out above the rest. Go to Athens, Georgia, where the Bulldogs have won the last two College Football Playoff titles, favored to get that done again. That is provided they can avoid the police blotter.
Georgia’s an overwhelming choice to win the SEC, just below even-money at -105, according to college football conference odds by BetUS Sportsbook. That never happens, especially in a league as stacked as this.
In second as far as conference odds are the Alabama Crimson Tide, priced at 5-2 (+250). You can’t rule out the Tide in any season. ‘Bama is beginning the season as a nearly 40-point home favorite over the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee St., as per college football odds.
Do not forget the Tide’s six national titles since 2009.
Georgia (East) and Alabama (West) are in different divisions in the SEC, thus a conference championship game between these schools would surprise no one.
While the Dawgs deserve their role as favorites, Alabama may very well be worth a shot.
There’s Some Competition
Georgia and Alabama are the best teams in the SEC without question, but there are some competent competitors lurking in the weeds.
Here’s the rest of the board in the SEC (note that all odds listed are subject to change)…
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Louisiana St. | +500 |
Texas A&M | +1200 |
Tennessee | +1400 |
Ole Miss | +4000 |
Arkansas | +8000 |
Auburn | +8000 |
Florida | +8000 |
Mississippi St. | +8000 |
South Carolina | +8000 |
Kentucky | +10000 |
Missouri | +10000 |
Vanderbilt | +10000 |
Louisiana St. is another college program that’s had a ton of success over the last few years, expected to be in the mix once again. Though not a great team last season, it’s a program with a license to turn it around. If you’re a fan of Baton Rouge and the Tigers, they’re at 5-1 (+500).
Further down the board, Texas A&M and Tennessee have both had some solid seasons recently, and they figure to win their share of games.
Anyone else winning this conference would be a stunner, as suggested by the odds. Strange things happen, however, so if you’re into bombardiers, have at it.
Bet on ‘Bama
While the Bulldogs of Georgia are loaded once again, it’s not easy to three-peat nationally or win this conference in back-to-back seasons.
Alabama coach Nick Saban has been known to have his teams come out with a vengeance, ready to go in 2023. Alabama will be loaded on both sides of the ball, entering the season with a chip on its collective shoulders.
Bet on the Tide at +250 to win the SEC. The odds are generous. Take them before any movement.
