The online NFL betting season is literally around the corner. Once offshore sportsbook fans get through this week, the season will officially commence on the following Thursday. It’s been a long offseason that hasn’t been even come close to matching last off-season’s hype. Granted, with the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match looming over football fans this past offseason, it’s easy to understand why.

One more week of preseason is all fans have to get through before we can officially welcome the 2017 season into our homes. The easiest way to make the time pass is by placing a bet on NFL preseason matches. One particular match worth taking a stab at is this Thursday’s pairing between the Los Angeles Rams and the reigning NFC North champions. If this were the regular season, the Green Bay Packers would be football betting offshore sportsbook favorites by a light year. But since we’re in the preseason, it isn’t quite as definite. Let’s take a look at what the best sportsbooks have to say about this preseason matchup.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Green Bay Packers – Thursday, August 31st

Start Time: 7:00 pm ET

Venue: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin

TV Broadcast: Local Broadcasts

Online Stream: NFL.com, NFL Game Pass

Offshore Sportsbook Odds:

Los Angeles Rams +3 ½ (-119) 38 (-110)
Green Bay Packers -3 ½ (-101) 38 (-110)

The Los Angeles Rams turned in a 4-12 record during the 2016 season, which was a step down from the 7-9 record the franchise had delivered the year before. The failure was enough for the organization to finally cut ties with Jeff Fisher – who has long been the laughing stock of the entire online NFL betting community. Sean McVay enters as 1st year head coach, looking to instill hope in a fan base that has long been defeated.

The Packers finished the 2016 season with a 10-6 record that paved the way for a first place finish in the NFC North. Green Bay went on to make a respectable push in the playoffs, beating the New York Giants 38-13 in the Wild Card round before triumphing over the Dallas Cowboys 34-31 in the divisional round. In the NFC Championship game, Green Bay lost decisively against the Atlanta Falcons 21-44.

The Packers had been plagued by defensive issues all season long but are hopeful that a few snazzy additions in the offseason will help plug the holes in the secondary. The Pack selected Kevin King with their first pick in the draft, one of the most physical cornerbacks available in this past draft class.

Top Sportsbook Picks: Both teams come into this contest with a 2-1 preseason record. Looking over the lines Intertops sportsbook – one of the leading bookmakers in the industry, has on this match, it’s clear offshore sportsbook players will want to be betting on the totals line. The Packers have gone over that total in 2 of three preseason matches while the Rams have scored over 20 points in 2 of their 3 games.
