Premier League Title Race – On Wednesday, Legal Online Betting added to an exciting slate of Premier League matches and made for an intense title race and fight for top four finish. Liverpool extended their lead by five points despite Darwin Nunez’s stunning penalty miss against Burnley while Manchester City kept pace thanks to Julian Alvarez’s brace against Burnley and Tottenham made history after an amazing comeback victory against Brentford.

Darwin Nunez’s Nightmare Day

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez had an afternoon to forget in the Reds’ 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea. The Uruguayan did everything but score in an agonizing personal display. Nunez won and then missed a first half penalty kick that would have put Liverpool up 2-0. He then proceeded to hit the woodwork an incredible 4 times over the remainder of the match. Nunez finished with 0 goals on 11 total shots, 5 of which were on target. He even chipped in an assist but it was still a performance that left Nunez grasping his head in disbelief.

While Nunez’s wayward finishing didn’t cost Liverpool the result, it very well could have against a better side. The Reds were clearly the better team on the day but the score line should have been even more lopsided. Nunez has been unlucky in front of goal all season. He has scored just 7 times from an expected goals tally of nearly 11. At some point that bad luck figures to turn. But Nunez needs to keep his head up and stay confident. When he does find the net again regularly Liverpool’s attack could become unstoppable.

Premier League Title Race – Birthday Brace for Julian Alvarez

While Nunez suffered through a nightmare in front of net, Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez enjoyed a dream birthday outing. The Argentine youngster turned 24 years old and celebrated in style with 2 goals in City’s straightforward 3-0 victory against Burnley. Alvarez opened the scoring just past the half hour mark before adding another right before halftime.

The brace takes Alvarez’s Premier League tally to 8 goals on the season to along with 6 assists. After scoring just 9 league goals all of last campaign, Alvarez has firmly entrenched himself as a key cog in Pep Guardiola’s machine. Even with the return of fellow forward Erling Haaland, Alvarez has continued to produce.

City were heavy favorites over Burnley but the pressure of the title race renders any league match tricky. Alvarez’s clinical finishing ensured City kept pace with Liverpool in a race that looks set to go down to the wire.

Tottenham’s Emphatic Comeback Powers Them Into Top Four

Tottenham found themselves trailing 2-0 to Brentford early in the 2nd half. But inspired substitutes from manager Ange Postecoglou sparked a roaring comeback that ended in a 3-2 victory, Spurs’ 4th on the bounce in the Premier League.

The first half was largely uneventful with Brentford deservedly going into the break ahead 1-0. The Bees doubled their advantage just after halftime and Tottenham looked devoid of ideas. Enter Postecoglou.

The Australian manager boldly introduced creative midfielders Brennan Johnson and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the 55th minute. The moved immediately paid dividends as Spurs looked like a different team. Defender Cristian Romero pulled a goal back just 3 minutes later. Then Timo Werner, who had struggled to make an impact in the first half, burst to life.

Werner assisted Johnson for the equalizer in the 63rd minute before setting up Hojbjerg for the winner 8 minutes later. It was a rousing turnaround and statement result from Postecoglou’s fearless side.

Many predicted a midtable finish for Spurs after the summer sale of star striker Harry Kane. Yet backed by Werner’s brilliant playmaking, Tottenham now find themselves well and truly in the hunt for a Champions League place. Postecoglou has built an attack that scores at will and a defense capable of tightening up when necessary. Other top four contenders should consider Spurs serious threats after Wednesday’s swashbuckling display.

Conor Bradley Seizes Opportunity for Liverpool

With Liverpool holding a comfortable lead over Chelsea, manager Jurgen Klopp opted to give some squad players a run out. One of those fringe options, 20-year old defender Conor Bradley, gave his best audition yet for more regular minutes.

Bradley played a perfectly weighted pass to set Darwin Nunez free down the left flank before the Uruguayan centered to Roberto Firmino for Liverpool’s second. Then on the stroke of halftime, Bradley ventured forward once more and delivered an inviting cross that Cody Gakpo emphatically headed home.

Bradley now has 5 assists in his last 4 starts across all competitions. With Trent Alexander-Arnold seemingly cemented at right back when fit, minutes have been hard to come by for Bradley. But the young Northern Irishman is showing manager Jurgen Klopp that he is ready to play a bigger part. Bradley has provided energy and attacking threat from full back.

This week in the EPL highlighted the fine line between triumph and frustration, making for an exciting topic of sports betting picks. Players such as Darwin Nunez and Julian Alvarez exemplified this. Emerging talents like Conor Bradley as well as Tottenham’s tactical shifts illustrated its ever-evolving nature. As this season progresses further narratives will shape its journey towards its eventual crown – something sports betting picks may help predict accurately!
