Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Auburn Tigers Pick

We are fully aware of what Penn State can do offensively this season. They really let Ohio have it following a neat win over Purdue. Auburn hasn’t been impressive against the spread ATS, but they were heavy chalk in those two games. In an underdog role, they’re more than able to not only cover, but beat Penn State straight up. We will take Auburn and the points here.

Following Auburn’s underwhelming performance against San Jose State last week they deserve to be home dogs. The Tigers are 0-2 ATS this season after Mercer scored a late TD to cover the 20-point spread. San Jose State gave Auburn a tight game even though they were 23.5-point underdogs.

The Nittany Lions are 2-0 ATS after they beat Purdue on the road. They crushed Ohio at home last week. Auburn’s offense has not shown enough for us to foresee them winning this game but the defense will keep it close all the way through.

Penn State being a three-point road favorite seems about right taking into account how the first two weeks of the season have unfolded for both teams. That may be a good wager to take this weekend. But our focus will be on the over 48.5.

Penn State’s defense clamped Ohio down after they had a tough time containing Purdue in Week 1. Playing on the road gets the Nittany Lions into a frenzy that could see Auburn feed off the energy a little for some tough touchdown drives. But Penn State’s offense has had little difficulty putting points on the scoreboard. The over feels like a given.
