Betting Dallas Cowboys

This is the first time in eight seasons that Dallas won’t have Ezekiel Elliott running roughshod in the offensive backfield. The seasoned running back did not resign during the offseason, thus rendering the transition to 26-year-old Tony Pollard official.

It is hard to believe that Elliott is just two years Pollard’s senior, but the key difference is the amount of gas left in each tank. Zeke Elliot carried the ball 1,881 times in seven seasons and the latter just 510.

This is going to be Pollard’s time to be a star for the Cowboys. He is surely going to make the most of this opportunity even though he has another young player behind him on the depth chart, none other than 21-year-old rookie Deuce Vaughn. Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to witness how different the offense is going to look with head coach Mike McCarthy’s back-calling plays.

Dallas had a great defense a year ago. It was led by pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons. He ranked seventh in the NFL with 13.5 sacks. Parsons is the favorite to win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award after he totaled 26.5 sacks in his first two years.

The team has bolstered its secondary with the arrival of former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore. Trevon Diggs and Gilmore might be the best couple of cornerbacks of any team, and they will be trying to keep New York’s receivers at bay while Parsons puts the pressure on opposing QB Daniel Jones.

Dak Prescott

Should the Cowboys run the ball effectively, and quarterback Dak Prescott manages to limit mistakes, and the defense shows up, they can cover the point spread.

Brandin Cooks has scored a TD in each of his past four Sunday games with his team as the best NFL gambling sites’ favorite. Dak Prescott has run for 16 or more rushing yards in the Cowboys’ past four games versus NFC opponents. Prescott has passed for three or more TDs in the Cowboys’ past three September games as the favorites versus NFC East opponents. Dak Prescott has thrown 256 or more passing yards in six of the Cowboys’ past seven games as road faves.

CeeDee Lamb has caught 81 or more receiving yards in each of the Cowboys’ past three September games on the road. Tony Pollard was one of just two players in the league to record 1,000 rushing yards with fewer than 200 attempts last season.

Betting NY Giants

The Giants have dropped seven of their past eight Week 1 games versus NFC opponents. Giants have not covered the point spread in ten of their past 11 home-opening games. The Giants have lost the 1st quarter in 7 of their past eight games.

The Giants have lost the 1st half in each of their past 6 season openers. Each of the Giants’ past 9 home openers has gone UNDER the total. Saquon Barkley has scored a TD in six of his past seven regular season games with the Giants as a dog versus NFC opponents.

Daniel Jones has run for 39 or more rushing yards in four of the Giants’ past five September games versus NFC opponents. Saquon Barkley has caught 21 or more receiving yards in each of his past four games with the Giants as the underdog. Saquon Barkley led the NFC in Rushing Yards (1312) last year.
