This team, without Derrick Henry, struggles in the run game. And that is a vast reversal from the club that built its offense around a ground attack. They had thought that Adrian Peterson, the future Hall of Famer, would help out a little, but they weren’t satisfied enough and released him.
Patriots flying high right now
New England has won five games in a row. And after Buffalo beat New Orleans on Thanksgiving, these teams are tied for the AFC East lead at 7-4. And ti is becoming apparent that the first-round pick they spent on Mac Jones has been a great investment.
Jones is a 70% passer. Of course, it should be noted that he is not being asked to carry the entire burden by coach Bill Belichick. On the offensive side, he has been the beneficiary of a running game that has dual contributors. Damian Harris and rookie Rhamondre Stevenson, who have combined for 908 yards. There’s some good distribution in the receiver corps. And tight end Hunter Henry has seven touchdown grabs. Jonnu Smith is back too, so they can have a two-tight end effect if they want as well.

AJ Brown was the wide receiver who would have received the most attention from Tannehill. But he has been placed on injured reserve with a chest injury. He will not be able to play for at least three games. And this is a big blow, because the Titans have lost their top weapons. They were already without Julio Jones. And of course, Derrick Henry may not appear again this season.
The “D” does it
Well, Tennessee’s defense will have to keep it in the game if there is going to be a chance to win. But the unit we’re talking about here is the one that belongs to the Pats. They lead the NFL in scoring defense and have allowed 13 points over their last three games.
We figured this was going to be an improved unit. That’s because of both the new people coming in as well as those returning from injury. And there were a couple, including Kyle Van Noy, who came back to the team after being elsewhere.
The job is easier now that Tennessee is short on weaponry.
The Titans would be very fortunate if they were able to run with any effectiveness. And if this becomes a one-dimensional attack, Matt Judon, who has 10.5 sacks and 50 pressures, becomes more of a factor.
In conclusion
Normally it would seem shaky to lay this number with New England, which is not an “explosive” side. But this is not the Tennessee team we are used to seeing, and Tannehill may find himself a man under siege. We’re going to lay the points with the team that’s in a groove.
