The 2023 NBA Draft is right around the corner and it involves several points of intrigue. One of the big dramas on draft night is where various top players will be picked. Which players will be top-five picks? Which players will land in the top 10? Also which players will be lottery picks (top 14), and which players will fall short of the lottery? BetAnySports.eu has posted props on the big day, so let’s look at several players who have generated quite a lot of discussion and see where the value lies.

Ausar Thompson NBA Draft Position

Over 5.5: -260
Under 5.5: +200

The top 10 of the draft will include Amen and Ausar Thompson of the Overnight Elite team. Neither man chose college basketball as the avenue of entry into the NBA, so a lot of college basketball observers are not familiar with the Thompsons. Precisely because Amen Thompson is likely to be the top-five pick between the two, it’s unlikely that another NBA team would leap to take Ausar Thompson in the top five.

It just isn’t likely that NBA teams are going to see these two Thompsons as essentially the same player. It is more probable that there will be some separation between the two. The odds of Ausar Thompson going at No. 6 or later are very good, so the over looks like the right play here. Many mock drafts have him right on the cusp of where this over-under is set at BetAnySports.eu but most have him landing with the Magic at No. 6.

Cam Whitmore NBA Draft Position

Over 5.5: +235
Under 5.5: -300

If you think Ausar Thompson is going at No. 6 or later, you should then move to go with the under for Cam Whitmore of Villanova. With Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, and Amen Thompson likely to be in the top three of the draft, picks 4-6 would be likely to involve some combination of Brandon Miller, Whitmore, and Ausar Thompson. If Miller goes at No. 4, it likely comes down to Whitmore or Ausar Thompson at picks 5 and 6. So, if you have Ausar at 6 or lower, you should then slot Whitmore into the No. 5 pick.

It’s unlikely that someone else on the draft board, such as Jarace Walker or Anthony Black, would rise to No. 5. If Ausar is not at 5, it should be Whitmore. You can play those two picks off each other. A lot of mock drafts have the Detroit Pistons as being the landing spot for Whitmore at No. 5. As long as nothing whacky happens, this probably makes the most sense.

Jarace Walker NBA Draft Position

Over 6.5: -180
Under 6.5: +145

This pick flows from the ones we have discussed above: If you think Cam Whitmore will go at 5 and Ausar Thompson will go at 6, Jarace Walker – who will not be taken in the top four of the draft – will fall to No 7 or 8. He wasn’t dynamic enough at the University of Houston to merit a top-five selection, so the odds are small that he will be picked in the top six. That’s a really small margin to fit into.

Going any time after the sixth pick is very likely, so the over is the right play. Many mock drafts have him landing at the No. 7 slot to the Indiana Pacers and that seems to make a lot of sense.

Cason Wallace NBA Draft Position

Over 13.5: +195
Under 13.5: -240

This is a case where the draft projections are running closer to No. 10 than No. 14 or 15. This might offer the best percentage chance of winning with a not-that-bad price. Cam Whitmore is -300, but he could fall to No. 6 and you would lose your bet. Wallace at an over-under of 11.5 would be intriguing, but at 13.5, he’s a near-lock to go in the top 13 and therefore cash an under ticket. Taking a look at some of the latest mock drafts, they have him paired with the Dallas Mavericks at No. 10. If that happens, this under would be cash quite easily.
