Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants – Monday, September 18th
Venue: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Start Time: 8:30 pm ET
TV Broadcast: ESPN
Online Streaming Options: Watch ESPN, NFL Game Pass
With the New York Giants stepping into this Week 2 matchup sporting a 0-1 record, Big Blue will need a big break against the Detroit Lions in order to not fall any further behind in the NFC East race. Luckily for the Giants, the Eagles and the Cowboys, inarguably the 2 biggest threats in the division, have both kicked off the season with a 1-1 record. Things are lining up for New York to take their stake in the East but they’ll need a big win this evening.
The Lions are in a similar situation, albeit it’s much better. Detroit picked up a solid win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Now they’re at the top of the division with the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers tying for the No. 2 spot in the NFC North. If Detroit can manage to knock off the Giants on the road, the Lions will get a much-needed early lead in the divisional race. Let’s see which team offshore sportsbooks are pegging as the favorites.

Betting Detroit Lions
The Lions beat the Cardinals 35-23 in their season opener. Matt Stafford had a solid performance on the day, throwing for 2932 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, and a 113.1 passer rating. Detroit’s running game was mildly successful, earning 82 yards on 27 attempts for an average of 3 yards gained per carry. Defensively Detroit managed to hold Carson Palmer and Arizona’s offense to 308 yards on the day. On top of that, the Lions defense managed to force 4 turnovers – 2 of which ended up going the other way for the score. Overall the Lions had a good outing against a challenging opponent. Nevertheless, the Giants represent a new and worthy threat, one that online sportsbooks don’t think the Lions will be able to overcome.
Betting New York Giants
New York looked rather poor in their debut against their rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants finished the day with 233 yards on offense while allowing Dallas to gain 392. Big Blue’s defense forced 0 turnovers on the day but Eli Manning managed to complete one. The Giants performed poorly in all 3 phases of the game and lost the time of possession battle by over 11 minutes. Despite their lackluster performance, USA sportsbooks believe they can battle out a home win tonight.
