The Michigan Wolverines are 22.5-point home faves over the Army Black Knights, as the legal online sports betting spread goes for the Week 2 NCAAF football game on September 7 at 12:00 pm ET at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI.

Betting Army Black Knights
The Black Knights beat Rice 14-7 in their season opener as, according to the best online sportsbooks, 23.5-point home chalk. Needless to say, Army failed to cover the legal online sports betting spread. The Knights are not what you’d call a passing team. Starting QB Kelvin Hopkins Jr. completed three of eight passes for 53 yards with one TD. Hopkins rushed for 80 additional yards with another TD. Army currently holds the second-longest active streak in the country (10 straight wins). But listening to head coach Jeff Monken, each victory is a Superman vs. Doomsday scenario.
“I don’t know where people got disillusioned about Army football,” he said. “We’re just a bunch of tough kids; (we) play hard. We’ve got a lot of guys nobody else wanted. We’ve got some talented players in here, maybe some people missed on them. But it’s not like we’re busting at the seams with All-Americans. It takes everything we’ve got to win a game here.” And speaking of comics, Army is going to play the Wolverines as if they were in fact facing the X-Men. “Holy smokes, all 11 one-on-one matchups we’re outmanned. We’re outmanned in every one-on-one matchup. Like I said, we just try to prepare our schemes and do the best we can and hope it will be good enough,” Monken added. Greatest vote of confidence in history.
Betting Michigan Wolverines
The Wolvies shredded Middle Tennessee 40-21. However, as 36-point home favorites, they did not cover the legal online sports betting spread. UM’s balanced attack gained 453 total yards (220 passing, 233 rushing). Starting QB Shea Patterson passed for 203 yards (Dylan McCaffrey accounted for the remaining 17) with three TDs. Tarik Black had 80 yards on four receptions. Zach Charbonnet led the rushing offense with 90 yards. And McCaffrey added a TD on the ground. Michigan’s defense held MTSU to 67 yards rushing, which is bad news for Army. Not that head coach Jim Harbaugh is sleeping on the Black Knights.
“This is one of those offenses that’s so good that even when you know what they’re going to do, they’re really hard to stop,” he said. “You can even see in the Oklahoma game last year that Oklahoma knew what they were doing and their guys were in the right spots and they still had a hard time getting Army off the field. “They’re so good, such an effective way to play offensive football. They don’t turn the ball over, they don’t beat themselves, sometimes they can chew up 42 minutes on the clock.” It’s almost as if Harbaugh has more faith in the Knights than Monken does.

Harbaugh also said of Hopkins: “The QB is a really shifty type of guy,” Harbaugh told Jamie and Stoney. “I wouldn’t really call it straight-up burner speed, but he can make people miss and really executes the offense extremely well.” No shit. Hopkins became the first player in Army history to run for 1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in a season last year. On the other hand, the Knights’ offense lost quite a bit of edge when fullbacks Darnell Woolfolk and Andy Davidson graduated. Methinks Army’s winning streak is going to come to a screeching halt on Saturday, without even the pyrrhic consolation of covering.
