Betting New York Guardians

The Guardians snapped a two-game skid with a 17-14 upset over the LA Wildcats in Week 4 as seven-point home dogs, per the best online sportsbooks. Starting QB Luis Perez went 18 of 26 for 150 yards with one TD and three sacks. Wide receiver Colby Pearson and tight end Jake Powell had 34 yards each on eight total receptions. Running back Darius Victor rushed for 82 yards on 18 carries. Middle linebacker Frank Ginda had seven combined tackles and defensive end Jarrell Owens had two sacks. Owens also blocked a field goal attempt. NY was outgained 345 total yards to 250 and lost 100 yards on penalties. But they held LA to just 40 yards on the ground.

“The win was good. We know we are a talented team and we just had to put everything together offense, defense and special teams, and this a game that we did that,” Guardians defensive tackle Joey Mbu said.

Betting Dallas Renegades

The ‘Gades lost 20-27 to Houston in Week 4 as one-point home underdogs, according to online sportsbooks. Starting QB Landry Jones went 25 of 38 for 205 yards with one TD, three picks, and one sack. Wide receiver Flynn Nagel had 76 yards on six catches. Running back Lance Dunbar had 48 yards and one TD on nine carries.

Jones suffered an injury to his left leg and had to be helped off the gridiron. Philip Nelson took over, but Houston recovered a fumble near their own goal line to hold off the Renegades. Dallas continued to rely on the run game. and may have to rely on it even more heavily if Jones misses time. “I so appreciate the great fans that were out there this afternoon. We had a great crowd, great environment and we got to get them a win. Hopefully, they hang in there with us. … Just looking at the game I find it amazing that with two minutes remaining we were on the three-yard line with a chance to tie the game or take the lead,” Renegades head coach Bob Stoops said.

Jones sustained a similar injury at the start of training camp in early January. He wasn’t cleared to practice until the week before the opening game, which he missed. The new injury occurred late in the fourth quarter, as Jones converted a sneak on fourth down to Houston’s 44-yard line. Houston defensive end Caushaud Lyons appeared to fall on the outside of Jones’ left knee. Jones was obviously in pain. However, he was able to walk to the bench mostly under his own power. Nelson, who started in Week 1, replaced Jones but fumbled at the Roughnecks’ 5-yard line. The Roughnecks were able to run out the clock following the turnover.

Jones underwent an MRI on Monday revealing the reaggravation of his left knee injury. The recovery period is expected to be at least two weeks. Dallas activated quarterback Eric Dungey from the reserve/left squad list. The team has also been granted a quarterback roster exemption for Brogan Roback.

New York Guardians vs. Dallas Renegades XFL Pick

I don’t know about Roback, but I liked Dungey a lot in his Syracuse days. He must be a bit rusty, but I think Dallas would do well to thrust him into the spotlight. I don’t think he would disappoint them. He’d give them a good shot at covering the point spread set by online sportsbooks.
