Sites for betting in the NFL are giving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers better odds to win Super Bowl LV. The best online sportsbooks are doing this because tight end Rob Gronkowski has come out of his 10-minute retirement. And joined his bestest friend foreverest Tom Brady in Tampa. And here I thought Miami was the city of choice in Florida for elderly Americans. I keed, I keed. Gronk is a wrestling fan.

Can’t he see that going from the Pats to the Bucs is like going from WWE to Impact Wrestling? The tight end let the Patriots know that he wanted to play football again, but only with Brady. Gronk will play next season under a $10 million one –year deal, per his current contract. He joins fellow TEs Cameron Brate and OJ Howard, though the latter doesn’t seem to be long for the Bucs.

Of course, sites for betting in the NFL have presumably made these adjustments on the assumption that Gronkowski will play. But let us not forget that Gronk is a mixed bag. Yes, he is still young (he will turn 31 in May). And he is still big. On the other hand, the Gronk is as fragile and brittle as Sam Jackson in Unbreakable.

According to his own tally, he suffered about 20 concussions and underwent nine surgeries in nine NFL seasons. Gronkowski has not played an entire regular season since 2011. Moreover, he missed the 2013 and 2016 playoffs due to injury. He finished his New England career with 7,861 yards and 79 TDs. However, he received for fewer than 700 yards in two of his last three seasons. And scored single-digit TDs in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Add to that the fact that he has to shake the rust from a long layoff.

What other Impact will have Gronkowski Trade

The trade may also have an impact on teams other than the Bucs. “Are the Bucs becoming a Cowboys’ problem? The answer seems to be an unequivocal yes,” says Dallas News.com. Tampa Bay finished last season one game behind the Dallas Cowboys even though Jameis Winston threw 30 picks. Brady might not throw as many yards and TDs as Winston did in 2019 (5000+, 30+), but his fewer passes are likely to be more accurate. “If the Bucs add a playmaker or two to the defensive side of the ball, there’s no question their turnover ratio will change drastically with Brady stepping in for Winston”. All things considered, the Bucs could very well leapfrog the Cowboys to the top of the NFC.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are going to see more of Brady and Gronk than they were used to in the past decade. Philly only got a small taste of Gronkowski, something that we can chalk up to, once again, his recurring injuries. In Week 12 of the 2011 season, Gronk caught four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown; the Pats won. And in Super Bowl LII, Gronkowski caught nine passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the second half. That was to little avail, though, as the Eagles went on to win game. The tight end’s average game against the Eagles is 6.5 receptions, 87.5 yards, and 1.5 touchdowns in two games.

Now that both he and Brady are in the NFC, Philly’s Super Bowl odds at sites for betting in the NFL are taking a hit. And not just for the time being, but probably for the next couple of years. And who knows? Maybe the months of rest have allowed Gronk to finally and fully heal his banged-up physique. Maybe, like Frank Sinatra’s tombstone, the best is yet to come.
