After they pulled off the greatest upset in the history of the CFP as 8-point underdogs at the best betting sites in the Fiesta Bowl, the Horned Frogs will be facing an even greater challenge in the national final college football betting game. TCU did open as 13.5-point underdogs to Georgia at the best online sportsbooks. That is just the second time that the Frogs have been spotted two (2) touchdowns since the year 2019.

The Georgia Bulldogs (14-0 SU, 7-7 ATS) are hoping to go on to become college football’s first back-to-back champions in more than ten years when they clash with the TCU Horned Frogs (13-1, 10-3-1) in the national final. Georgia has been scoring at least 40 points in six (6) of its past nine (9) games. They have gone 6-3 to the OVER in that period.

Betting TCU Horned Frogs

Heisman Trophy hopeful quarterback Max Duggan went on to account for four (4) of the Horned Frogs touchdown scores in their 51-45 upset over Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl. The bigger story, however, may have been the way that TCU fared at ground level against the big bad Wolverines.

More than a half of the Horned Frogs’ total yards came by way of the rush. They would run for almost 80 more yards than Michigan in spite of allowing a 54-yard run on the Wolverines’ very first play from scrimmage.

An even greater surprise was how the majority of TCU’s rushing yards came to be. Emari Demercardo ran for 150 yards. That is more than twice what he ran for in any other game during the 2022 regular season. He did it while subbing for star back Kendre Miller, who had left the game in the first half with an injured knee.

Miller, who had over 1,300 rushing yards and 17 touchdown scores during the 2022 regular season, had just eight (8) carries in the Fiesta Bowl. His condition for the final is not certain. Even though TCU has gone UNDER the total in four (4) of its last six (6), the high-scoring game in the Fiesta Bowl was the fifth time in the Horned Frogs’ past seven (7) games as an underdog that they have gone OVER the total. TCU has also covered the spread at the best betting sites in six (6) of its past eight (8). The couple of non-covers were by a half point and in overtime.

The Horned Frogs’ offensive attack balance (they rank 25th in passing and 25th in rushing) could be a good challenge for a Georgia defense that allowed 41 points and 467 total yards versus Ohio State. TCU’s defense needs to deliver a few big plays like the way it did in the Fiesta Bowl, when it would score two touchdowns on returns from interceptions. The Frogs’ third and fourth pick-sixes of the 2022 season.

Betting Georgia Bulldogs

We can expect a solid bounce-back performance from the Bulldogs’ mighty defense, which has surrendered 71 points in its past two (2) games after they allowed just 82 in its previous seven college football games. Georgia’s past championship experience should also come very handy, in particular if the game gets close in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs will be making their third national title game outing in eight years under the guidance of head coach Kirby Smart. They are looking to become the first repeat champion in over 10 years. The defense has been a key to much of Georgia’s previous success, but the Dawgs can overwhelm their opponents with their offensive attack.

They have scored 40-plus points in six (6) of their last nine (9) games. One of those games took place in the Peach Bowl, when Stetson Bennett passed for 398 passing yards through the air in order to lead the Bulldogs back from a 14-point deficit to hold off Ohio State 42-41.

Five different football players scored touchdowns for the Georgia team, which has gone OVER the total in four (4) of its last five (5) games. The Bulldogs might be without one of their best offensive players in the national final.

Starting tight end Darnell Washington would leave the Peach Bowl in the second half with an injured ankle. Washington posted 417 receiving yards and two touchdown scores in the 2022 regular season but is also a proficient blocker in Georgia’s two-tight-end strategy.
