After a thrilling Daytona 500 last Sunday, racing fans and gamblers turn their attention to Atlanta, Georgia. The Atlanta Motor Speedway is host to the second NASCAR wagering race of the season. Sunday will feature the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500. For fans that like unrestricted speed, Atlanta delivers the goods. AMS features a track length of a mile and a half and with turn banks of 24 degrees. Because of its configuration many consider it to be the perfect track. Without the annoying restrictor plates of Daytona cars race at maximum speed. Atlanta makes for what Tony Stewart would describe as “real racing.”

Austin Dillon is coming of the high of a big Daytona 500 win last week. However the fact that he finished 32nd in the Atlanta race last year should sober him up fast.
Brad Keselowski took the checkers at Atlanta last year. As one of the most popular and respected drivers on the circuit he should draw plenty of betting action. Win machine Jimmie Johnson won two consecutive Atlanta races prior to Keselowski’s triumph. With four career wins at AMS Johnson will be among the top NASCAR wagering favorites on Sunday.
Johnson was wrecked out of the Daytona 500 early and will be eager to get back on track. As a seven time Cup champion few drivers match Johnson’s public betting appeal. While this can often make him an overlay he does bring the value of consistent excellence. Meanwhile the Busch Brothers, Kyle and Kurt, have a proven record of success at AMS. Daytona was tough on both of them last week. Kurt finished 26th last Sunday while Kyle placed 25th. Paul Menard finished sixth at Daytona last week. Of concern is his recent struggles in Atlanta.
Looking specifically at how drivers have done in Atlanta Menard is an eyesore. He finished 25th at AMS last year and 18th in 2016. Johnson on the other hand has been outstanding. Especially relevant is of all active drivers he has the best Atlanta numbers. With 26 career starts at AMS Johnson has five wins, 14 top fives and 16 top tens. Finishing 19th in Atlanta last year combined with last week’s debacle make him a classic beaten favorite.
Kyle Busch has two wins in 19 AMS starts. He also has five top fives and six top ten finishes in Atlanta. Kurt Busch is right behind his brother with three wins in 26 Atlanta starts. The elder Busch brother also boasts six top five and 12 top ten finishes at AMS.
A potential long shot that may earn rave sportsbook reviews is Kasey Kahne. Although he has an average finish of 17.86 at AMS he has three wins. Kahne also has eight top fives and ten top tens in Atlanta.
Matchup to Watch
This NASCAR wagering matchup comes down to Jimmie Johnson vs the Busch Brothers. As a result, one must consider the better value that the Busch’s will bring.
Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR Picks
Seems like Johnson would be a great choice. But everyone agrees on that which drives down value. As a result, picks on both Busch brothers makes more sense.
NASCAR Betting Pick: Kurt and Kyle Busch to win.
