US sportsbook betting players will get a rematch of last year’s NFC divisional game between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers. That game ended up turning out to be one for the history books as Aaron Rodgers led the Pack back in the final minute to earn Green Bay a ticket to the NFC’s Conference Championship. That’s where the buck stop short for the Packers as Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons proved to be too much to overcome.
But enough about last season, this Sunday will be the 2017’s online NFL betting season Week 5 and there are plenty of eye catching matches. But even amongst games like Panthers vs. Lions, Ravens vs. Raiders, and Chiefs vs. Texans, the matchup between Green Bay and Dallas stands out significantly. Let’s take a look at what kind of sportsbook betting turnout NFL bookmakers are predicting for this Sunday.
Betting Green Bay
The Packers march into this Week 5 matchup sporting a 3-1 record that ranks them 1st in the NFC North. Or, I should say, ties them with the Detroit Lions for the lead in the division. However, we all remember how the divisional rivalry between the Lions and the Packers turned out last season and it’s safe to assume we’ll get a similar result at the end of this year.
Unsurprisingly, the Packers are being pegged as the online sportsbook favorite. Largely in part because of how poor the Cowboys have been playing as of late, and also due to the defensive improvements Green Bay has been displaying. The Packers’ secondary currently ranks 5th against the pass and 19th against the run. Additionally, they rank in the top half of the league in terms of points allowed. However, the trick to beating the Cowboys is jumping to an early lead. But with Aaron Rodgers under center, the Pack should have little problem doing that this Sunday.
Betting Dallas
The Cowboys have been letting online sportsbook players down this season. After finding so much success in 2016, US sportsbooks and NFL fans alike were expecting Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott to pick up right where they left off. Nonetheless, it seems that some off the field issues have translated into some on the field issues as Dallas hasn’t been able to implement their gamelan consistently in 2017.
Notwithstanding that fact, the Cowboys will be going up against a pretty horrible run defense. They’ll also have home field advantage this Sunday, but that didn’t help them out much last time. There’s decent value picking America’s team straight up but you could play it a little safer by betting on the spread. Both Dallas and Green Bay are 2-2 on the season, so there’s not much insight into how that line will turn out.
Online Sportsbook Odds:
Green Bay Packers -2 (-115) 52 ½ (-116) -133
Dallas Cowboys +2 (-105) 52 ½ (-104) +113
