It’s a new day (yes, it is!) at Notre Dame. It dawns in Columbus against one of the nation’s best teams. Former DC Marcus Freeman takes the reins as head coach following Brian Kelly’s departure to LSU.
He has inherited a solid roster, in particular on defense. The offense has lots of experience, too, but they must break in a new QB. We expect the QB competition to boil down to Tyler Buchner and Drew Pyne. They both saw action last season.
Meanwhile, Ohio State had three receivers leave in the first round of the draft. They should not experience much of a drop-off though with Jaxon Smith-Njigba back in the roster and QB C.J. Stroud, a Heisman candidate in 2021. The Buckeyes are stacked again and have gone 17-11-1 ATS at the best offshore gambling sites as a doble-digit fave under head coach Ryan Day.

Is Florida State back in contention? After a run of five straight double-digit winning seasons (that includes a national championship) from 2012-16, FSU has gone just 26-33 in the last five seasons. It’s been a steep climb for the Seminoles, but there were signs of improvement last year under head coach Mike Norvell.
In Norvell’s third year, FSU can make a big statement by crapping all over Brian Kelly’s LSU debut in New Orleans. FSU’s coaches have tried to bolster the roster with transfers. This is a strategy that Kelly also put to use ahead of his season year with the Tigers.
Included in LSU’s batch of transfers is ex-Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels. He will compete with senior Myles Brennan for the starting gig. If Kelly wants a guy who can move, Daniels is the likely option. Kelly’s choice of QB choice could indicate what the offense is going to look like.

Dan Lanning guided Georgia to a national championship. He will be on the opposing sideline, though, when UGA starts to defend its title. Lanning spent the past three seasons as Georgia’s DC. He is now Oregon’s head.
He will make his head-coaching debut versus his previous team. Georgia lost a lot of talent to the NFL draft but remains a 17.5-point favorite at the best offshore gambling sites. That’s a testament to the level of talent Athens has recruited, but there linger some questions about this team.
Will the defense dominate again? How explosive will this offense be with Stetson Bennett back under center? The large spread also points to changes in Eugene. In addition to Lanning, Oregon added ex-Auburn quarterback Bo Nix.
Nix’s career has been hit and miss, but he is familiar with big-time environments following three seasons as an SEC starter. Oregon returns plenty of talent, which includes the entire offensive line and several defensive starters who were injured last season.
This point spread opened closer to 14 points, but has kept moving as bettors are keen on backing Georgia. Lanning’s knowledge of UGA makes the underdog a bet worth considering, in particular if the number continue moving.

Florida hasn’t been a home dog versus a non-conference team since it was a five-point underdog against Florida State in 2017. According to ESPN’s Chris Fallica, the last time the Gators were home dogs in a non-conference game versus anybody that wasn’t Florida State was in 1986 against Miami.
Opening the Billy Napier era, the Gators are 2.5-point dogs in Gainesville against Utah, the current Pac-12 champions. The Utes played like a top-10 team in the second half of last season. The Gators fell apart in the last days of Dan Mullen.
How fast can Napier make his mark on Florida? His Louisiana teams were both creative and physical. Florida he has an electrifying quarterback in Anthony Richardson, which as good a place to start as any.

Nebraska is a doble-digit fave in a neutral site game. The number feels a little inflated, not least considering the Huskers’ knack for losing games we expect them to win. Under Scott Frost, Nebraska has gone 9-15 ATS as a fave, although it covered all three times it was a doble-digit fave last season.
Those happened to be the only three wins of the season for the Huskers. One of them was a 56-7 rout over Northwestern as 11-point home chalk. That was Nebraska’s only conference win in a season where they went 0-8 in one-possession games.
