Best College Football sportsbooks favor Clemson over the Duke when the Clemson Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils play in week 1 ACC of college football action at Wallace Wade Stadium on Monday night. Clemson has gone just 1-10 ATS in its last eleven games played in September.
The Blue Devils have gone 4-0 ATS in their past four games as the best online sportsbooks’ underdog with two SU upsets in that period. The UNDER has gone 5-1 in Duke’s last six games at home and 3-1 in Clemson’s past four games against ACC opponents.

Betting Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers have gone 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games versus the Duke Blue Devils. The Tigers will be looking to keep up that superiority over their ACC rivals with a win on the road against the Blue Devils this Monday night in Durham.
A record of 11-3 SU and 7-7 ATS and a conference title would be a dream season for most teams in the country, but for Clemson anything less than the best is a felony (shoutout to Vanilla Ice). The Tigers have not made it to the College Football Playoff in consecutive seasons after they did so six times in a row and captured two national championships.
DJ Uiagalelei was not able to do the deed as the Tigers’ starting QB in the last two seasons. He transferred to Oregon State during the offseason. In 2023, the pressure is going to be on true sophomore QB Cade Klubnik as well as new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley to kickstart this offense.
Consistency has been Clemson’s major issue in the last two seasons. The Tigers have the skill to go toe to toe with the best teams in the nation, but they have also lost five games where College Football sportsbooks favored them to win in the past three seasons.
That includes two losses as double-digit chalk. Some of that lack of consistency lies at the feet of departed QB DJ Uiagalelei. He was not able to live up to the hype at Clemson. Cade Klubnik displayed both glimpses of brilliance and rookie mistakes last season. How he will perform might be the key to both Clemson’s season in general and in particular Monday night’s game against Duke.
Betting Duke Blue Devils
Duke’s running game averaged 184.2 rushing yards on the ground per game last year. It was the driving force propelling the team to an average of 32.8 points per game. Clemson finished last year with the country’s 10th-best rushing defense.
They allowed just 101.1 yards per game. This is the matchup that will define whether the Blue Devils cover the point spread and even score an upset at home. Should Duke be able to assert the ground attack against this strong Tigers defense and get the fans crowd involved early, it might open up the road to a huge win that would make a statement early on in the season.
Mike Elko’s maiden season as the head coach of the Blue Devils last year was a resounding success. With the team going just 5-18 SU and 1-17 SU in conference play in the two prior seasons combined, Elko took charge of the program last year and led the team to a 9-4 SU and ATS season.
The Blue Devils finished the season with a 5-1 SU and ATS stretch. They will be hoping to keep the forward momentum going with a good start this season. QB Riley Leonard passed for 2,967 passing yards through the air, 20 passing touchdown scores, 699 rushing yards on the ground, and 13 rushing touchdown scores in 2022. Leonard is one of the nine starters who will be returning on the offensive this year and who are looking to build on last season’s unexpected success.
Clemson Tigers vs. Duke Blue Devils Pick
We are leaning towards Clemson. Duke wasn’t challenged enough in 2022 in terms of high-caliber opposition. Granted, they defeated Wake Forest and got a bowl win against UCF, but it’s just tough to feel confident about a week 1 matchup with Clemson, even with home-field advantage.
This is a Tigers team that just seems to keep getting better and better with each passing year. Klubnik displayed glimpses in his reduced action last season. We think that this is will be about Clemson making the stops that Duke won’t over the course of the contest. Take Clemson laying the points.
