Sites for betting in the NFL favor the away team when the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals play on Friday in NFL preseason action at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Denver will be entering the 2023 season following a rough season last year.

They stumbled to a 5-12 overall record and finished last place in the division. Arizona had it even worse in 2022. They posted a 4-13 overall record that landed them in the bottom of the NFC West division.

Betting Denver Broncos

The Broncos are road faves per the best online sportsbooks. The Broncos began the 2022 season with a 2-1 record but were in for a rude awakening. They went just 3-11 the rest of the season and landed one game behind the Raiders for dead last in the AFC West division.

The Broncos also ranked last in scoring and they were beset by bad performance and by injuries. It’s a new season, though. Spanking new head coach Sean Payton will step in to man the helm, and he is going to be trying to get the team back to postseason contention for the first time in 7 years.

Russell Wilson is due for some big improvements following the regime change, and he will have some familiar faces in Denver as a result of not too many changes to the roster this past offseason. The key positions remain mostly the same (other than a few departed names such as Victor Bolden and Latavius Murray) and the offensive line should be strong again.

Denver has gone 4-2 ATS against the spread in their last six games. The total has gone OVER in five of Denver’s last five games. Denver has gone 3-11 SU in their last 14 games. Denver has gone 5-0 ATS in their last five games playing against Arizona.

Denver has gone 5-0 SU in their last five games playing against Arizona. Denver has gone 0-5 SU in their last five games playing on the road. Denver has gone 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games when they have been playing on the road against Arizona.

The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Denver’s last 14 games playing against an opponent in the National Football Conference. The total has gone UNDER in nine of Denver’s last 11 games playing against an opponent in the National Football Conference West division. Denver has gone 6-1 SU in their last seven games that they have played in the month August.

Betting Arizona Cardinals

The Cards are home dogs at sites for betting in the NFL. They managed to put together a 4-6 record through ten games last season but they wouldn’t pick up another win after that. The Cardinals established a new record for the most losses at home in the history of the franchise (8) and they immediately can head coach Kliff Kingsbury and General Manager Steve Keim followng the ghastly 4-13 season.

Arizona hired the defense-oriented Jonathan Gannon as their head coach for this year. We are bound to see some improvements on that defensive side of the ball. Although though it appears to be yet another rebuilding year all over again.

Kyler Murray is going to be out for some time after he torn his ACL. It will be quite a change without DeAndre Hopkins, JJ Watt, Zach Allen and Rodney Hudson on this roster. Arizona selected Outside Linebacker Paris Johnson in the first round of the draft. Will Hernandez, Kelvin Beachum and Hjalte Froholdt will all be along for the ride this season. That is a front group that does have a pretty nice ceiling.

Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals Pick

We will probably just go with the Broncos in this game. Denver looks to have an edge vis a vis the roster, because they did not experience a lot of turnover durng this past offseason. That is good news for the rapport of the second- and third-stringers, who are going to receive significant playing time in this preseason opening game.

The coaching staff arguably saw the most amount of change of any group, but Payton is a seasoned NFL vet, so Denver should manage to step onto the field without missing a beat. The Broncos will have a long, hard road ahead because of a rough schedule and a new administration, but for the moment we think that they will be all right in their first preseason game of the year.
