The Breeders’ Cup Mile is set for Saturday with Tepin listed as a slight odds favorite at the best online sports betting sites. Tepin Favored
The defending champion is trying to join a short list of horses on Saturday. There have been 32 previous Breeders’ Cup editions and only 12 horses have won the same race in consecutive years. Tepin is coming off a loss last time out in the Grade 1 First Lady but Tepin has proven time after time to be a great horse.
Long List of Challengers
The Mile really could be wide open if Tepin doesn’t win with a number of horses that could win. Alice Springs is trained by Aidan O’Brien and anytime O’Brien enters a horse it has to be respected and Alice Springs has won two straight Group 1 races. Alice Springs finished runner-up in the Juvenile Fillies Turf last year but this year the horse has been even better. She won the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. “She seems to be getting quicker as the year has gone on and she’s a strong traveler who loves fast ground.” O’Brien said, “She has progressed with every run and we were very happy with her at Newmarket.”
Ironicus just missed out winning the Shadwell Mile and is primed to improve for trainer Shug McGaughey.
Limato has won two Group 1 sprints but whether he is good enough to get a mile is a big question.
Midnight Storm is looking for his fourth straight stakes win and he is not without a chance for trainer Phil D’Amato.
Miss Temple City has won two Grade 1 races this year but going against Tepin is a step up in competition.

There is no question that Tepin can win this race so I will make a small play on him at odds of 4-1 at the best online sports betting sites but I also like Midnight Storm at odds of 12-1 at best online betting sites. Midnight Storm loves to race at Santa Anita and his trainer, Phil D’Amato has been pointing the horse to this race. D’Amato worked for the late trainer Mike Mitchell who had experience sending horses to the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Midnight Storm is sired by Pioneerof the Nile and is out of the Bertrando mare My Tina that has already produced six winners.
