Betting Buffalo Bills
The Bills had a three-game SU and ATS winning streak snapped by the Ravens in Week 14. No shame in that, though. According to the best online sportsbooks, Buffalo entered that game as 6.5-point home dogs, and lost 17-24. It’s the first time their 20th-ranked scoring offense (21.1 ppg) is held to fewer than 20 points since November 10.
And the first time their second-best-in-the-league scoring defense (16.3 ppg) allows more than 20 points since the same date. Starting QB Josh Allen went 17 of 39 for 146 yards with one TD and six sacks. That’s bad even for the Bills’ passing offense, which averages 206.6 yards per game (27th).
Running back Devin Singletary rushed for 89 yards on 17 carries. The only offensive category they excel at, Buffalo gains 135.3 yards on the ground per game (5th). Buffalo’s defense did its job well, though. They held Baltimore to 257 total yards, including just 139 passing (though the Ravens’ offense is ground-based). The Bills rank 3rd in total (296.8) and passing yards (191.5) yards allowed per game.
Buffalo is, per NFL gambling sites, 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games after allowing fewer than 150 yards passing in their previous game. Covers 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss. And 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog.
“The Bills offense has allowed 10 sacks the last two weeks combined. Center Mitch Morse knows that effort won’t be acceptable against Pittsburgh this week. “Worried isn’t the right word to use,” Morse said. “If you start thinking like that then you start panicking and we can’t let that happen. It’s a whole collective unit type of thing and offensive scheme but we talked to everyone and that’s something that can’t happen again.”
Betting Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers extended their winning streak to three games with a 23-17 win over Arizona in Week 14. According to NFL gambling sites, Pittsburgh was 2.5-point road favorites. The Steelers, which rank 23rd with 19.9 ppg, scored more than 20 points for the first time since November 3. Pittsburgh’s 6th-ranking scoring defense (18.6 ppg) has held opponents to a combined 40 points during their winning streak.
Starting QB Devlin Hodges went 16 of 19 for 152 yards with one TD and three sacks.
The Steelers’ passing offense is next-to-last in the league with 195.5 yards per game.
Pitt’s rushing offense did better than usual, gaining 140 yards, compared to their 94.6 per game average (25th). Still not enough, though, to match their 28th-ranking 290.1 total yards per game, as the Steelers outgained the Cards 275-236. Pittsburgh did hold Arizona to just 71 yards rushing. Pittsburgh’s run defense is 9th in the NFL, allowing 101.2 yards per game.
Additionally, the Steelers rank 5th in total and pass defense (310.9 and 209.8 yards allowed per game, respectively).
Pittsburgh is 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. 5-1 ATS playing a team with a winning record. And 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers Week 15 NFL Game Pick
This is going to be close and far farm from a shootout. Both teams have tight defenses and laughable offenses. Thus, rather than the spread, the total may be a safer bet, especially the under. The Steelers have gone under the total in their last five straight games. And the Bills have done likewise in five of their last six games.
