2021 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Betting Odds, Schedule and Analysis

Michigan Wolverines vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Odds, trends and expert predictions

Betting sites have taken note that the Fighting Irish return to Independent status after they played the 2020 season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Irish went 9-0 and won the regular-season conference title.

They lost to Clemson 34-10 in the ACC Championship Game. Also they lost 31-14 in the CFP Semifinal. They struggled to score against the national title hopefuls. It was nonetheless a successful season.

QB Ian Book has moved on. Wisconsin graduate transfer Jack Coan will lead the offense for head coach Brian Kelly. Coan completed 70% of his pass attempts in 2019 with the Badgers. It’s going be a much different looking attack in South Bend. it will be a more run-heavy offense. This means heavy workload for RB Kyren Williams.

The Irish have many playmakers to help out Coan. WRs Kevin Austin Jr. and Avery Davis are good options, and Braden Lenzy can be another, in particular downfield. However, Lenzy has had trouble staying on the field in the past two seasons.

TE Michael Mayer could benefit the most from Coan’s limited downfield ability.

He was already good in 2020. Defensive coordinator Clark Lea accepted the head coach job at Vanderbilt, so Marcus Freeman arrives over from Cincinnati to take his place.
Who will pressure the quarterback? Somebody needs to step up. The schedule starts at Florida State.

Home dates with Toledo and Purdue should get the Irish off on the right track. However, it will be of interes to see what goes on when Coan meets his former team, Wisconsin, at Soldier Field in Chicago on September 25.

The defense lost its best player, its pass-rushing book ends and their DC. This Irish program is going to regress big time, and the best online sportsbooks agree. This is a nine-win squad, at best, and the lean at betting sites is to the UNDER.

NOTRE DAME 2021 HEISMAN CONTENDERS and ODDS

KYREN WILLIAMS +8000

Kyren Williams is going to be doing a lot of grunt work. Notre Dame will shift to a more run-oriented offense what with Coan’s limited downfield ability. Williams will be joined by the quick Tyree in the backfield. That will eat into his ability to improve his Heisman odds at betting sites. Williams will be good, but not too good, which is not good enough to get the Heisman trophy.
