Blackjack is the American version of a card game known elsewhere as Twenty-One. The objective of the game is to get a better hand than the dealer. That would be a hand where the sum of the card values is closer to 21 without going over 21. The value of cards 2-10 is their pip value; that is, equal to the number of pips printed on the card. Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 10. The ace is worth either 1 or 11.

If the US online casino player is dealt an Ace and a ten-value card (a blackjack) and the dealer does not, the player wins and sometimes receives a bonus. If the player exceeds 21 he loses or “busts,” even if the dealer also goes over 21. If the dealer busts and the player does not; the player wins. If the player’s final sum is higher than the dealer and does not bust; the player wins. If both dealer and player get a blackjack or any other hands that equal 21, it’s a push and no one wins.

Where to Play Blackjack Online

How to Play Blackjack

The player is dealt two cards, which could be facing up, down, or one up and one down. After the first two cards, the player can do one of four-to-six actions; hit, stand, double down, split, surrender, and insurance.

If the player hits, he gets another card. If he stands he doesn’t get more cards. If he doubles down he increases the initial bet by up to 100% but must stand after getting just one more card. Finally, if the first two cards have the same value, the player can split them into two hands. He does so by making a second bet equal to the first. The dealer separates the two cards and draws an additional card on each, placing one bet with each hand. The player then plays out the two separate hands in turn. Usually, the hands are treated as independent new hands. Thus, the player wins or loses their bet separately for each hand.

Depending on the version of the game, the player may get a fifth alternative: surrender. The player can surrender right after the dealer has checked for blackjack. The house takes half the player’s bet and gives the other half back to the player.

Insurance may be offered when the dealer’s up card is an ace. In this case, you place an additional bet equal to half the original bet. If the dealer’s down card is a ten, you are paid 2 to 1. If the dealer’s card is anything other than a ten, you lose the insurance bet and the hand is played out like a regular hand.

Dealer rules

Rules for the dealer include hitting on a soft 17 (a soft hand is one with ace wherein you can change the value of the ace from 11 to 1 so as to be able to hit without busting), standing on a hand of 17 or higher, and hitting on a hand of 17 or lower

Why Play Online Blackjack

Brick-and-mortar casinos generally use from 6 to 8 decks of 52 cards. This makes it difficult to keep track of the cards that have and have not been dealt throughout a hand. And by keeping track we most certainly do not mean counting cards, just in case. However, online casinos tend to offer single-deck blackjack. Cards are randomly shuffled between every hand, but you’re chances are still better.

Blackjack tips

The Oscar system. This system involves adjusting the amounts you bet depending on whether you win or lose a hand. For example, if you win your hand, add a chip to your bet. If you lose your hand, bet the same amount as before. When you earn any money on top of your wins, repeat the process. Do not increase your bet by more than one chip per hand.

Do not play emotionally. It may be online blackjack but it’s still real life. It’s not like in Maverick where Mel Gibson could magically will a card to come up. Well, he only did it once, but still. The fact that really need a Jack is not going to make a Jack appear. Remember that cooler heads always prevail.
