Seahawks at Patriots

The Seahawks were fortunate to win last week against Buffalo as they prevailed 31-25. The Seahawks did look better on offense but their defense didn’t do a very good job in slowing down the Bills. The defense gets a huge test this week against Tom Brady and the Patriots. Tyrod Taylor of the Bills threw for 289 yards last week and in previous weeks the defense has given up big yardage to Drew Brees and Matt Ryan. The Seahawks defense simply hasn’t been able to get off the field. “This isn’t unfamiliar right now,” head coach Pete Carroll said. “We’ve seen this quite a bit. It’s unfortunate. It isn’t just running the football. It’s converting and all that and getting off the field on the other side. I don’t know what the stats were, but we did not have a good night on third down on defense. Those things fit together, and they factor in, and they did again.” Seattle has allowed opponents to score on 10 of their last 16 possessions.

The Seahawks are hoping to get strong safety Kam Chancellor back on Monday but they will still be without top pass rusher Michael Bennett.

The Patriots have been dominating since Tom Brady returned; winning and covering the last four games. The Patriots had a bye last week which means they have had a lot of time to prepare for the Seahawks. “This is kind of a unique situation,” head coach Bill Belichick said, “We’re pretty far ahead on Seattle. We’ve had a chance to work on them all week.”

Belichick said that playing the Seahawks after they faced the Bills should be an advantage. “Buffalo is a team that we know well from just having played against them and being a division team, so I think when we see what Seattle is doing, we’ll be able to figure out why they’re doing what they’re doing against Buffalo, what they perceive as an area to attack or what type of game plan to utilize.”

NFL Odds

The Patriots are 12-4 under Belichick coming off a bye. The Seahawks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in November. The Seahawks are 3-8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Patriots are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Patriots are 21-8-2 ATS in their last 31 home games.

The Under is 6-2 in the Seahawks last 8 road games. The Over is 4-1 in the Patriots last 5 games following a bye week. The Over is 5-2 in the Patriots last 7 home games. The Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in this series.

Sunday Night Football Picks

The Patriots have been outstanding of late and Seattle’s defense just doesn’t look the same so I will lay the points and take New England.
