The time for talking is over. The time for fighting has begun. By the time you read this, we will be that much closer to the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. This isn’t a fantasy, nor is it a video or even a meme – this is really happening. You’ll be able to bet here at Best Online Sportsbook, of course, as well as so many other fights.

That said, if you’re like many, you may find it difficult to think about how to bet this fight. After all, it’s not like there’s a lot of precedence for this. It’s not every day you get to see a fifty year old fighting someone 30+ years younger than him, even if it is this 50 year old, someone in their fifties who is unlike anyone else.

So, we’ve included some different analysis below about which fighter could win as well as how it could happen. That said, while we always saying “anything can happen” before any fight or sporting event, you need to understand, when it comes to this, really, anything can happen. Of course, you can bet on this fight and just about any other right here at our site.

How Could Paul Win the Fight?

If you’re of a certain age, you may find it hard to believe that a YouTuber is going to fight Mike Tyson. Also, if you’re of that certain age, you may find it even harder to believe that the YouTuber is favored. Yes, depending on where you look for the odds, Paul is going off at winning by KO or TKO at +105 (Tyson’s odds to win the same way are at +300).

So, while Paul is a slight favorite, he is still a favorite. How could this be? Simple: he’s a younger man. He is 31 years younger than Tyson. That is more than three decades. On the subject of odds, we could not give you good odds that Paul actually saw Tyson fight live during Tyson’s unbelievable prime.

To put this in perspective, think about any men you know that are 31 years older than you. Not to be unpleasant, but ask yourself: “Would I be able to take this guy who’s 31 years older than me in a fight?” Exactly.

Thinking of this strictly as a fight, while Paul may not have the strongest punching advantage, he’s absolutely going to have more speed. He’ll be able to evade, he’ll be able to move in a way that Tyson simply won’t be able to. Remember: even in his prime, Tyson wasn’t the most light on his feet fighter in the world (he didn’t need to be).

That’s one of the biggest reasons, perhaps, that the odds are decent that Paul winning by decision is at +290. It’s entirely possible that Paul just evades him long enough for the fight to end, got more points along the way, and that’s that.

How Could Tyson Win the Fight?

Years ago, this writer had dinner with someone who had spent a lot of time with the great Muhammad Ali long after Ali’s health problems had begun. This person told an incredible story about how he and Ali were in Ali’s home and, at one moment, The Greatest stood up and said: “I’m going to do it, you know? I”m going to make a comeback.” Then, well into his 50’s, Ali allegedly began shadowboxing and looked just like he did against Liston, Foreman, and so many others. Moments later, Ali sat back in his chair, and that was that.

We relate that story in the context of what very well could happen in this fight. Tyson was never Ali (although he was genuinely electrifying) but Tyson also doesn’t have nearly the health problems Ali did then.

This fight isn’t twelve separate three minute rounds. It’s eight rounds of two minutes a piece. Tyson doesn’t have to be who he was for the entire fight – he just needs to be enough of himself for a brief period of time, perhaps the span of just one punch.

Tyson may not be able to hit with the same power he did in the 80s but if he can just get off a few of the old punches, or maybe just one, that might be enough for this fight.

Many of the odds have Tyson at +300 for a KO or TKO. That feels like Tyson’s most likely path to victory. Paul bobs, Paul weaves, Paul moves as a man thirty years his junior does, and then, Tyson catches him with just one good one, and hits Paul so hard he ends up back on YouTube.

Could It End in a Draw?

It absolutely could.  Both of these men are, legitimately, heavyweights, so they’ll have punching power. That said, this fight is so short. Eight rounds of two minutes each – that’s just sixteen minutes of total, actual fighting by the time the fight ends. It’s more than possible that it just isn’t enough time for either man to wear down or drop their guard.

So, you could see a fight where Tyson hits Paul a few times (but not enough to knock him out) and Paul manages to dance around Tyson (without doing so to the point of exhaustion). Then, you could see the fight go the distance where we’ll go to the cards.

The odds are, right now, sitting at Paul with +290 for a decision and Tyson at +1400. As you can see, it’s far likelier one fighter wins via decision than the other.
