The Ohio Bobcats are field goal-favorites over the San Diego State Aztecs, say sports gambling online experts. The Bobcats finished third in MAC’s East division with an 8-4 record (6-2 in conference play). Additionally, Ohio was 7-5 ATS this regular season. They are coming off a 28-49 loss to Akron. The Bobcats were 24-point home faves for that game, per the best online sportsbooks. This will be Ohio’s 11th overall bowl appearance and fourth straight since 2015. It will be their first Frisco Bowl as well.
SDS finished the regular season fourth in Mountain West’s West division with a 7-5 record (4-4 in MWC play). The Aztecs went 3-9 against the spread this year. They wrapped their season with a 30-31 loss to Hawaii as 18-point home chalk. SDS has not missed a bowl bid since 2010. However, this will be their first Frisco Bowl.
Betting Ohio
Starting QB Nathan Rourke has thrown 22 TDs and seven picks on 2228 passing yards. He completes 61.1% of his attempts. Papi Maxwell and Andrew Meyer have 13 TDs on 1342 receiving yards. Cameron Odom has 29 catches. AJ Ouellette has 12 TDs on 1142 rushing yards.
On defense, Evan Croutch has 79 tackles. Kent Berger has five sacks. And Javon Hagan has two interceptions. Ohio allows 26.7 points and 399.6 yards per game.
Betting San Diego State
“No. 1, we’re happy to be in a bowl,” SDS head coach Rocky Long said. “There was some question whether we were going to get to or not. Since we’re going to a bowl game, we’re excited about that. “I haven’t been able to watch them much on film, but I watched a little and Ohio’s a pretty good team. Out of the MAC. We’ve played MAC teams before. We did this year, Eastern Michigan (winning 23-20 in overtime). We’ve played Northern Illinois in the past. We know how those go. They’re very close, hard-fought, physical football games. I assume this one is going to be just like that.”
Looking at sports gambling online trends, the Aztecs are 7-1 ATS as underdogs of at least three points.

Our Prediction: SDS has not been reliable at all against the sports gambling online spread this season. Small point spreads have not been kind to the Aztecs either. They failed to cover as five-point dogs versus Arizona State. And as one-point faves against Nevada. SDS straight-up lost four of their last five games. They lost the last three by an average margin of just 5.6 points per game. Which would still be enough for Ohio to cover in the Frisco Bowl. Speaking of the Bobcats, they are overachievers. They defeated six of their opponents by double digits. Ohio also scored 49 points or more in six of their last nine games. Barring a miracle, there’s no way the Aztecs can hang with the Bobcats.
