Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns vs. TCU Horned Frogs Betting Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Louisiana +320 +11.5 Over 58.5 (-110)
TCU -425 -11.5 Under 58.5 (-110)

TCU clearly stands in control as they enter as big 11.5 favorites. Louisiana, on the other hand, has had a good run in that they have been able to cover the point spread as they are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games which many of the loyalist who want to support them would see as a positive. Considering the fact that Louisiana has not scored a lot of points of late coupled with TCU’s good defense, the total set at 58.5 points appears to be too high.

Daniel Beale QB vs. Josh Hoover QB

This season Daniel Beale has only played a few games and managed to have 98 passing yards with 38.5% completions. He is inexperienced and not very efficient which in particular may be a deficit against TCU’s defense. Louisiana may try to use the rough game style and salt Beale’s weaknesses.

On the other hand, for TCU, Josh Hoover has outclassed everyone throwing the ball for 3697 yards and 23 touchdowns. Hoover has an impressive completion percentage of 66.7% and a quarterback rating of 150.2, and his ability to deliver the ball to deep-threat JP Richardson gives TCU a further clear advantage over other quarterbacks.

Louisiana’s Recent Struggles

The Ragin’ Cajuns have showcased some quality moments especially when they almost thrashed Troy 51-30, but losing 3-31 to Marshall clearly points to weaknesses. For most of the season, the junior college transfer Bill Davis has been the highlight on offense, running for 775 yards and nine touchdowns. Another interesting player for the Cajuns has been a wide receiver, Lance LeGendre who has average 17 yards per catch, but with how unpredictable the Cajuns are, Gregory Shudak may not have a better time against TCU either.

TCU’s Late-Season Surge

TCU’s momentum seems to be increasing, with their ability to win against Cincinnati and Arizona being crucial. Their offense was led by quarterback Josh Hoover and complimented by Cam Cook’s nine rushing touchdowns. Furthermore, with Richardson’s 680 receiving yards, he seems to be a go-to receiver as well. The recent results and the well-rounded style of the Horned Frogs are clearly a plus going into this contest.

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Betting Trends

The Ragin’ Cajuns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games and 8-2 SU in their last ten. However, their 2-18 SU record against Big 12 opponents highlights their struggles against higher-caliber teams. Despite a shaky December record, they have performed well on Saturdays, hitting the over in four of their last six Saturday games.

TCU Horned Frogs Betting Trends

TCU is 5-1 SU in their last six games and 4-1 ATS in December matchups. Their ability to win convincingly on Saturdays (6-1 SU in their last seven) makes them a reliable favorite. The under has been a common outcome in their games, hitting in 10 of their last 15 as favorites.

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns vs. TCU Horned Frogs Betting Previews

The odds are stacked in favour of TCU in this contest as they have the better quarterback and their form is good as well. On the other hand, the strong TCU defense is likely to be a big challenge for Louisiana who has a heavy dependence on their rushing game. The spread at -11.5 for TCU is quite reasonable although value bettors might find the situation where Louisiana was able to cover in the similar situations more tempting.

The over/under of 58.5 points is fishy by all means. It’s true that TCU’s attack can score points and gore the opponent’s defense, but because of Louisiana’s shaky offensive performance, the under looks like the stronger bet. It’s also worth looking at prop bets surrounding Hoover’s passing yards or Richardson’s receiving totals.

Score Prediction: TCU Horned Frogs 35, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 17.
