Cleveland Cavaliers (20-3) vs. Charlotte Hornets (6-16)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets December 7 2024 – This Saturday’s schedule has an interesting matchup as the side with arguably the best performance this season, Cleveland Cavaliers (20-3) will face the side from Charlotte which is struggling this season, the Charlotte Hornets (6-16). The Cavaliers are still coming off one of the best records in the league and will be visiting the Spectrum Center seeking to make it more. On the other hand, the Hornets have won only one in their last eight games and hope to turn the tide on home ground.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Cavaliers -625 -11.5 (-110) 222 over (-110)
Hornets +450 +11.5 (-110) 222 under (-110)

Cleveland Cavaliers have the upper hand coming into this game as reflected by the spread and moneyline. The expected win by the Cavaliers over the Hornets seems understandable considering the wide spread of -11.5 points. Punters on the total should take note of the largely conflicting trends with the recent form of the Cavaliers frequently going under total score, whereas encounters between the two sides in Charlotte have had quite a few high-scoring matches suggesting an opportunity in the over.

Donovan Mitchell (SG) vs. LaMelo Ball (PG)

Donovan Mitchell remains a key piece for Cleveland by playing an average of 31.6 minutes and scoring 24.5 points per game. His scoring and playmaking skills make him a player who can change the game, hence the need to keep an eye on him. At times he has a high turnover rate, however, I believe he still does more good than bad, especially during important moments of the game.

LaMelo Ball’s numbers are impressive too but most importantly despite Chauntlette not having the best of seasons, Ball has been on a locked in 31.1 points per game over 34.1 minutes. He also is not scoring only as he averages the most assists and the most rebounds for his team. But Cavs discipline could take advantage of this case as they could exploit his rebounds and fouls per game.

Things change when Mitchell and Ball are up against each other. Further, Ball’s defence will be put to the test by Mitchell’s aggressive attacking whilst the Cavaliers will be relying on Ball’s ability to make plays. Both stars are head to head in this individual matchup and would try to dominate across the game as this would affect the end result.

Cleveland’s Statistical Edge

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on an offensive tear as was seen in the last ice hockey game where they claimed a victory against the Denver Nuggets with a score of 126-114. They average 122 points with a field goal percentage of 50.9%. They are very careful with the ball and only turn it over 12.6 times, which tells a lot about their team. What is more, the Cavs’ defense is no less impressive, averaging 9.1 steals and 4.8 blocks per game which makes their offense even more powerful.

Charlotte’s Battle of Rebounds

Even though they have a losing record, the Hornets are strong in rebounding having an average of 45.5 which is higher than that of the Cavaliers standing at 43.2. This rebounding ability especially on the offensive board also looks dangerous for Charlotte as they can gain 13.3 chances of second-chance points by scoring. The problem for them is getting to convert them with a strong defense like the Cavaliers’ in the way.

Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Trends

Cleveland are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games.

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Cleveland’s last 6 games.

Cleveland are 17-3 SU in their last 20 games.

Cleveland are 7-2 SU in their last 9 games on the road.

The total has gone OVER in 4 of Cleveland’s last 5 games when playing on the road against Charlotte.

Charlotte Hornets Betting Trends

Charlotte are 10-5 ATS in their last 15 games.

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Charlotte’s last 6 games.

Charlotte are 0-7 SU in their last 7 games.

The total has gone OVER in 7 of Charlotte’s last 8 games against Cleveland.

Charlotte are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games at home.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Previews

Considering the overall data and trends, the Cavaliers are likely to dominate this game, but the Hornets’ capacity to cover the spread at home is critical, too. The safe bets appear to be on Cleveland to win but potentially not to cover the large spread. The total going over is also promising, judging by the historical trend of these high-scoring games whenever they play in Charlotte.

Because of the binding nature of the two clubs, it seems reasonable to persist with the score prediction which gives Cleveland a greater edge. But then again, the home strength of Charlotte might just keep them in the box.

Score Prediction: Cavaliers 116, Hornets 107.
